Palihouse Santa Barbara

Tried the Pali House SB for the first time. We had a spacious room towards the end of the property upstairs with a balcony facing the pool. I'm at 50/50 whether I will return or not due to the following reasons: (1) This room was about $1000 a night which is a range that opens up a lot of other options in the area. The room was slightly dark for my taste. (2) There was a wedding over the weekend and there were a bunch of rowdy guests. The group of ladies lounging at the poolside literally "screamed" rather than softly speak for hours on end in the afternoon. The group of guys downstairs who probably had the balcony window open were extremely loud. Don't expect decent sound proofing. (3) As in other reviews I've read, there is only ONE front desk staff who actually acts like a hotel staff. When I checked in, the parking lot was full. She ran down to move her own car to make space for mine without the slightest of attitude. Everyone else at the front desk barely said a single "hello" or "good evening". When I walked back in at night, they took a double take on me to give me that "are you even a hotel guest"look. Very unfriendly and unprofessional. I feel bad for the one nice lady, because everyone else gives bad vibes. (4) No comment on the facilities. I didn't even eat one meal there. The pool and the restaurant didn't seem that enticing for me to try. (5) Location is 2 long blocks away from State St on a quiet back road. Overall, for $1000 a night, I may choose the Kimpton or try the Californian. It was definitely NOT a $1000 a night hotel experience. If they can get the pricing right, the Pali House does have potential to be a SB hotel destination.

We had a wonderful stay at Palihouse Santa Barbara. The hotel has a beautiful boutique atmosphere, with charming design, comfortable rooms, and a very convenient location for exploring Santa Barbara. Everything felt stylish, relaxed, and well maintained. The staff were also excellent. In particular, the lady at the front desk was extremely warm, welcoming, and helpful, which made our stay feel very pleasant from the moment we arrived. Her kindness and hospitality left a very good impression on us. Overall, we really enjoyed the experience and would be happy to stay here again. Highly recommended.

Wonderful stay - the hotel is unique and centrally located, just a quick walk to the main drag. Room was spacious and very well appointed.

I could not have been more pleased with my accommodations at Palihouse over my birthday weekend - I will request to stay in the same beautiful room every time I return. Between the giant soaking tub, the balcony overlooking the pool, the fireplace, the kitchenette, and the comfortable bed, I could have moved in! There was a wedding party also staying on the property the same weekend, which I was a little concerned would interfere with noise, service disruption, etc. but it really wasn't an issue - it was quiet, and the staff remained attentive throughout. Even when the pool area was crowded on the final day, there was still room to lounge. I look forward to returning to Palihouse in the future for a little oasis in the heart of Santa Barbara!

This is a beautiful property. I wish we had more time to enjoy the amenities. Our room was incredibly spacious and well appointed.

Very nice hotel and stay. Pool was a bit small, which didn't matter except that a family with kids and floaties arrived and took over the pool. Would have been nicer if this was an adults only hotel, but we understand that this was beyond the hotel staffs control. Guests do what they want to do.
