First off, this is a beautiful hotel in the heart of old town. Do not stay here if you are traveling with anyone who can’t do stairs, or hills or is handicapped. The hotel is HUGE. And spread out. It was extremely difficult to find our room and parking was a disaster. Rooms are EXTREMELY SMALL.

Always saw this hotel on previous trips to San Diego but never stayed here before. The best thing about this hotel is the location. It is in Old Town so you are surrounded with some of the best Mexican food in San Diego. Park the car ($17 night) and feast away. Onsite restaurant is The Tequila Factory. Good food and margaritas (the hotel gives you a voucher for a free drink worth about $9-10). Old Town Mexican Cafe (100 meters away) has the most amazing fish tacos on handmade tortillas (you can watch the tortilla production in the front window). The hotel is old (maybe a little dated in the room decor) but clean and well kept and it is a beautiful property with lots of courtyards and outdoor seating. Staff is friendly and helpful. Old Town is easily accessible to both I5, I8 and hwy 163, close to the airport and around 10 miles to the beach (very easy to get there).

Thoroughly enjoyed our stay. The room was spacious with a separate area that had a second tv and sofa bed couch with mini kitchen. The grounds were beautiful and it was right in the middle of old town. Would definitely stay there again!

The rooms are large, the views are gorgeous, the beds are comfortable and the hotel is walking distance to all of Old Town and the train station! 10/10 would stay here again when in San Diego

My husband and I love staying here when we’re in San Diego but this time, it wasn’t as nice as usual. The bathroom door was stuck and had to use a lot of strength to open and close it, the bathroom toilet was dirty, and the WiFi was horrible. House cleaning was good when they tidied up but one day I had to go down and ask for them to attend to the room and it was after 3:00. A woman, who was coughing without covering her mouth was saying she’d find out for me when they could get to our room and left a half hour after without saying anything for me, she knew i was waiting in the lobby to find out. This was the worst it has ever been. I do believe in second chances and since this is our to go place to stay in San Diego, I’m sure we’ll try again in hopes this was just a one time incident.

Staff was great and the property is nice. Only back fall was that the rooms need some updating. Nothing major, just minor items like faucets, couch bed, stuff like that

Stood in line to check-in for twenty minutes before reaching the front desk.
Check-in is at 4:00pm. Most places it is 3:00pm.
No drain plug in the bathtub.
No elevator to the street level front desk from building six.
Loud party in the room next door and the house next door.
No security.
I checked out at 10:30pm. Could not stand the noise.
Would not recommend this place and will not stay here again.
They should have refunded the room price but of course they did not.

We arrived a bit early and were told our room was not ready but they would call us when it was ready. So we left to walk around to kill time. 2 hours later I called myself and was told that yes it’s ready. Why they didn’t call, I don’t know. We got a room in building 4, facing the restaurants in Old Town. Nice view. Took us multiple tries to open the door. It gets stuck a lot and would not open, but finally did. The room was huge, clean but HOT! It was cold outside but hot and muggy inside, so we can the air conditioner. The bathroom sliding door also would not close without making a ton of noise. Left to dinner and came back to go to bed and rest. We noticed they left ear plugs and figured it was in case the passing train bothers us. The train did not bother us but The beds were so lumpy we all got up sore all over. Then in the middle of the night a really bad stench came into the room. Something happens in the parking lot of the restaurants that emits a foul odor. It was so horrible that, along with the lumpy bed kept me awake all night. But just as I was falling asleep from exhaustion, at around 5am, trash trucks come to pick up at that restaurant parking lot right outside our doors. Then another one came, and then another one. Then once they are gone, another truck comes that is either power washing or who knows what, but it make continuous noise for another hour or so. Then, another dump truck comes. From 5am until we left, at 11, it was no stop noise.
