After a long hard day of skiing and a long hard day of driving, I won't lie I felt disheartened when I turned off 131 and onto a dirt road. I checked in and quickly found myself in a room with a bed and a shower. Putting my bags down, I realized I may have wanted a fancy pool and bar, but I what needed a hot shower and hearty meal. This place provided them perfectly. Penny's Diner is a piece of Americana that brought me home, even 100's of miles away. This place is sensational for what it is. If you want to take a day or two at steamboat, and have no need for bougie and expensive hotel in the resort town, I can't recommend this enough.

The property is very run down and you have to drive on a muddy dirt road to get to the entrance. I had to wait 20 minutes for a room to be cleaned at 5pm. Then staff knocked on my door every 5 minutes AN HOUR BEFORE CHECK OUT TIME. I had my alarm set to leave at 11am and then the cleaning lady tried entering my room at 10am, and wouldn’t stop knocking. I don’t recommend this Travelodge. I will not be staying here again

Shabby. Dirty. Trash overflowing trash cans throughout hotel for days. Dirty bath towel left on the back of the bathroom door from previous guest. The door key had to be reset each day without explanation as to why. Room did not have any amenities, i.e. no cups, tea or coffee, etc. and the hotel did not have any Kleenex tissues and we were told to use toilet paper,.instead.

We had to have our key cards reprogrammed twice. The key card on the outside entrance didn't work. I asked for some washcloths and got hand towels instead. When I went to ask for washcloths, the employee grumbled something and never did deliver them. Would not recommend staying here, it's a dive. We will not be staying here again.

We stayed a total of 7 nights. The Staff at the front desk is also the Cook. They were very friendly and great cooks. However they are very short staffed. Twice our check in was delayed. Checkin is at 3pm but the first time we checked in we had to wait until 4pm. The second stay checkin was horrible. We arrived and checked in, went to our room and it was not cleaned at all! Beds were not made, trash was still everywhere and nothing was steralized! We went back down to the front desk and the person was very sorry and did what he could to help. There was no other rooms available so he called the house keeping manager, who was off that day. She arrived within 15 min and apologised. She called the housekeeper who had said she cleaned the room! She told her it was not cleaned and asked her to come help her. She also told her that several of the rooms that she had marked off as cleaned was not cleaned at all! The housekeeper refused to help the manager and hung up on her. At the same time another hotel guest came to the front desk and complained and stated his room also had not been cleaned and was not ready. He had a single room and they had another available for him. The manager then tried to call the employee back but she wouldnt answer. So the manager had to clean our room and she did a great job! However it was around 6pm before we had our room! So we actually missed out on our evening that we had planned. It completly messed our entire evening up because we were hunting.

Check in is at the diner & Jennifer was a delight. Our room was clean & the bed was pretty comfortable. The room did not have any cups, which was a bit inconvenient & it didn't have a coffee maker. we had dinner at the diner & it was really good & again Jennifer was a delight. Then we had breakfast & the woman who was at the diner was also very nice. The only negative is that the hotel could use some updates.

Just what I needed. No frills, just clean comfortable bed and bath. The ladies at the cafe work very hard to give they're customers exactly what they want. I've been coming to Yampa for over 20 years, minus COVID, but this is the first time I stayed at the hotel and it was worth it. Nothing fancy, but clean and comfortable. Peaceful and quiet, no stomping around, yelling, drunken brawlers, or kids running in the hall. I love this place! I' be back sometime on the summer. 😘
