3rd visit for us, first for my parents. We wanted to show them the hotel and the village we love so much. The rooms were clean and comfy with a nice little terrace one side and a view of the pool and countryside the other. It is family run and has a lovely relaxed, welcoming feel. The pool itself is beautiful, with a few sun beds around to while away a sunny afternoon. Ionnas was always on hand for drinks from the bar or food afternoon & evening. The sunset from the poolside terrace is just beautiful too, with lovely chilled music from the bar the perfect accompaniment. The first night we ate in the hotel and the food was outstanding. The stifado was a first for my stepdad and the best my partner has ever had. And my souvlaki was the best I had on the island. The bread we had was toasted on a bbq/smoker and brushed with oil and oregano, simple but stunning. We will definitely eat here again when we stay next year! Thanks again for a lovely relaxing couple of nights and we hope to see you in May

We had the most wonderful relaxing stay for 10 nights. The food is the best we had the entire time we were in Rhodes, cooked by the mum and dad! Every meal was absolutely delicious. Their son was also so helpful serving us amazing coffees, cocktails, beers and snacks by the pool and all 3 members of the family worked morning, noon and night. Our room was clean, air conditioned and sheets and towels were changed every day. The view of the sunset is gorgeous and all the butterflies and birds make it feel like you’re really surrounded by nature. We cannot recommend this place highly enough and hope to be back again.

This is a small family run hotel in the main wine producing region of Rhodes, situated on the side of the mountain for which it is named, the Ataviros. The village is quiet, despite being on the main route through the mountain area from the west of the island, but has a number of tavernas, restaurants and vintners. The hotel has around 10 rooms or so over 3 floors. There is a breakfast buffet, and lunch/evening meals can be provided at a very reasonable cost, comparable with any of the local tavernas. The food is freshly prepared and excellent quality. The menu is limited, but has a good variety, although vegetarians may struggle for anything really substantial (but this applies anywhere on the island - it was the norm to have a selection of starters as a Meze, rather than a full main course). Hotel parking is limited and only 4 spaces are shaded. Street parking nearby is also available and there is a free car park within a few minutes walk. Rooms are spacious and quite well appointed, including a small fridge (although no kettle...). There is no room safe. We found room service to be a little hit and miss. There were a couple of days where the room was not serviced at all, and on 3 occasions had to ask for basic supplies such as toilet roll or soap dispenser refills despite the housekeeper having been in. That said, the hotel is generally very clean, with Covid protocols followed well. The bed in our room had an annoying creak, which took a few nights to resolve, eventually placing paper between the wood slats fixed this! It was comfortable and a full king size however. The pool is outside on a terrace, accessed via the lower floor, or a side driveway. Our room was a pool deck room, opening directly to the pool area, with a semi private terrace. The pool is large enough for this hotel, and has spectacular views of the mountain and the foothills down to the sea in the distance. The pool deck has sunbeds, parasols, tables and loungers, and dining tables. Meals can be taken here, and most guests eating in did so. The sunsets from this area can be fantastic. Some of the poolside furniture needs some TLC or even replacing, but it is functional. The hotel bar is situated beside the pool, and is well stocked with a variety of local and international brands. My main criticism of the hotel is the bar pricing, which can be a little expensive and irrational. A bottle of local wine can be had from the village for around €6, but the bar price for the same bottle is €24 (a 400% markup). The local tavernas charge around €10 for a bottle. Beware of asking for anything not on the menu as well, as the cost may not reflect the ingredients - we asked for 2 shandies - made from one beer (€3.50) and one lemonade (€2.50), but were charged €12 for the two (double the price of the ingredients) as this is apparently classed as a cocktail! All in all, we had a very pleasant stay here, and would certainly consider it again if we return to the island. Staff and o

Lovely family hotel with beautiful setting of the Ataviros mountain and at walking distance of Embona village. Comfortable rooms and large swimming pool. Gianni and his parents do their utmost to make you feel at home. Restaurant at the hotel with lovely home cooked food. If you are looking for genuine Greek hospitality away from the crowds then this is your destination.

Stayed here for a week with a nature holiday group. We were full board and all the meals were delicious. Great variety at breakfast including omelette, salad and cake. The evening meals had great starters such as fried cheese and chickpea dishes. I loved the stuffed peppers. They very graciously catered for my special meal requirements. The rooms are very attractive with comfortable beds and very clean. Thank you to the lovely family running the hotel.

Great pleasure for me to review 5* this hotel. Family home stay with excellent VPM. Fantastic view, lovely breakfast, with warm hospitality by a small mountain village. The location is great for the ones who like to travel the island off the beaten path.

Well the hotel itself is nice with a lovely pool in a quiet village , all was good until the day of check out , when I went to settle our food and drinks bill . I was verbally abused and threatened with the police by the manager Ioannis ; I booked a family room for 4 back in January making a mistake by adding 3 people instead of 4 , I realised my mistake and messaged the hotel straight away , I was reassured that it was not a problem. Well it became a huge problem at check out when Ioannis wanted to charge me 10 euros per day for the extra person . I argued about it on the grounds of my message and the reply back in January but in reply I got verbally abused , with the F word being used several times , he threatened me with the police and was incredibly rude . When I agreed for the police to come he told me to now settle the bill for the drinks , and the rest when the police comes , after I paid for the drinks he took my card from the reader put it on top of the bill and was about to take a picture of my card , luckily I realised what he was doing and took the card , when I questioned him about it he said it was for the proof of payment when I obviously know what he wanted it for , that is absolutely disgusting. Anyway I stood my ground and didn’t pay at the end but the whole experience leaves a very bitter taste in my mouth . What a terrible way to treat guests that stayed at your place for 2 weeks when everyone else only stays for a night or two as this is very isolated place far from everything. I expected a message if apology from you Ioannis but haven’t received it . Shame on you Ioannis .

We fancied a different start to our holiday this year and booked Ataviros due to its mountain village location and stunning views. We were not disappointed. A wonderfully quirky and clean stone & wood room with the comfiest bed we’ve slept on in a long time, including our own!! We had a little terrace with a fruit tree and were right by the pool but not overlooked. We ended up booking 2 nights instead of 1 which allowed us time to really enjoy the hotel and the village. The staff were friendly and welcoming, and very knowledgeable about their produce and the area. We had sunset drinks at the pool bar with a wonderfully peaceful view and one of the best tuna salads I’ve ever had! We ate at one of the village tavernas on the 2nd night which was delicious. The locals are very friendly and welcoming. Take time to wonder through the back streets of the village and ‘get lost’ amongst the houses and lanes. We tried one of the wine tasting experiences in a local shop and had a frappe at the bakery both mornings just watching the world go by, it was lovely and relaxing. A lovely start to our time on the island and we are already looking forward to returning!
