Lækur Hostel

The check in is easy and you get to choose the bed. There is a bus stop in front of the place and minimart close by. The hostel is clean .

Check-in was pretty smooth. I was allocated the room just above the main entrance as such, it can be quite noisy whenever people get in or out of the hostel with the door slamming and some vibration felt! The bathroom and wc are fairly clean and tidy. Very cosy common area to mingle and make new friends. Kitchen has all the basic necessity. I especially like the small area right outside my room where i can have a light meal and nice view of the surroundings. Bought the unlimited bus rides ticket via the Klappid app for travel within the Reykjavik capital city and bus svc 12 is just few steps away. If time permits, you can even walk to the coastal area for sight-seeing. Overall, i am very satisfied with my 8 nights stay at Laekur hostel!

Meet many new friends and have a great time here! The lighting and decorations are sweet!

We stayed here for a week , the website looked great , the rooms looked to be spacious and clean . However it turned out that this place wasn’t that great and the photos online were deceiving . Location wise it is about 2 miles from the centre . It has a lovely path you can walk down into the centre of Reykjavik . We had problems with the booking and the manager was not helpful to resolve the issue but to pay more money , not nice . The people in the cafe who you report to , some of who do not speak English are not very helpful and and not really bothered about being polite . The guest house is small , the kitchen is large but the oven did not work ( see video ) . There is no toaster , the area was a little scruffy and fridge needed a clean . The dryer did not work and had to be removed .Light fittings were coming apart . The windows were dirty and noise could be heard from outside as there is no double glazing . The blinds are not blackout and since we came in the summer it was very bright so difficult to sleep in . Cleaners were rarely seen in the area and the main cabins were left dirty . This place was expensive for what it is , I’ve stayed in many hostels around Europe , I had high hopes for this place but it turned out to be terrible . It would have been ok if the manager actually cared or spoke to me about the concerns I had , I wrote to him several times to resolve them but he ignored my requests . Not a place I would visit again.

Comfortable dorm bunk beds each with their own plug and USB port and reading light. Clean shared bathroom facilities. Shared kitchen which was also kept very clean. The café downstairs serves good food and the staff are friendly and helpful.

The bedroom was clean and carpeted. That was the best. The reception is the same for the bar so it seems like they are not at hand all the time.
