We paid the post office I find normal, but it was not necessary if they did their work for us as soon as we left in any case, too bad for this hotel and your service, a little chaotic, ??"

"We enjoyed our four night stay at Mansio in Rethymno. Located within the old town it was quiet and secluded. The bed and shower rooms were of a decent size and very clean. All the staff were friendly, helpful and most spoke excellent English. So, overall nothing to complain about. Except, to us, another guest from the UK did; he thought that the breakfast was poor. Unfortunately we have to concur. We have found, through many years of travelling, that you can judge the quality of an establishment by the orange juice served at breakfast. In the Mediterranean, where hundreds of thousands of tons of the things are grown annually, there is no excuse for not serving freshly squeezed juice. The Mansio’s offering was an undrinkable orange coloured chemical. If the Management can rectify this, and the meagre cold meat and cheese boards, then the Mansio would be a very good little hotel indeed."

"We booked this hotel after reading all the positive reviews. And Although we can agree the hotel is well presented and is kept clean and tidy and in close proximity to the beach and around a 15 minute walk to old town that is about the most we will say is positive. We did not use the pool, pool bar or watch any entertainment that was on offer as this did not interest us. The pool is in shade for the majority of the day due to its location but that we agree is not at fault of the hotel. The rooms are nice, we paid for a superior pool view but we was given a road side view, this was rectified straightaway without any fuss, however the balcony we had was no wider that arms length so not an ideal place to sit and relax. No changing of towels daily, or bed linen. Now the main concern and honestly is what ruined our whole holiday and that was the food! Nothing we had either breakfast or evening meal was hot! Not one thing we ate, it was cold each time we ate there and over two weeks we only ate breakfast which again was pre made fried eggs, bacon, the usual. This forced us to eat outmost of the time even though we paid half board. The health risks associated to serving cold food which is meant to be hot really need to be addressed example Eggs should be made to order. It’s not a big hotel so this should be and easy fix. This hotel in our opinion caters more for its European guests rather than that of the British guests, I’m not sure if this hotel is new to Tui Uk guests but I would not book here again due to the issues raised."

"The Hotel is located at a 25 min walking distance from the old town. There is no on site parking. The nearest free parking is 10 to 12 mins by walk. The family room is not appropriately designed. The main bed is in a loft with no ventilation or air conditioner. The toilet is very small. The breakfast at the restaurant is very sparse. Expected much better. This is not a value for money hotel."

The man who checked us in was very friendly and gave us an excellent recommendation for a local resultant which serves delicious authentic Cretan food in humungous servings. The hotel itself was lovely and clean and had a lovely little balcony looking out into the pine forest. We had two single beds which were close but This was fine. Shower had great pressure and temperature. Little strange is the bathroom which is just a green glass wall which you can’t see through but when the light is on you can see the other persons silhouette. There is free onsite open air parking which was a godsend after fighting for parking in Chania. There’s a lovely pool area which has ocean views but we did not use this. Overall excellent hotel with all the basics and lovely staff."

"Travelled in late June early July 2026. A mum (me) with two teenage children. We have had a wonderful time in Rethymnos, and in Crete in general, and we have loved the accommodation. Crete is a beautiful island and there are a lot of places to visit. Rethymnos is a quiet little town, located on the north cost. There are really a lot of possible excursions from there, for example, to the beautiful beaches on the western or southern coasts, to gorges, or to archeological sites close to Heraklion, Knossos, for instance, and to other lovely towns like Chania. Leonidas is a quiet hotel run by a nice family, and located close (a couple of minutes) to the golden sandy beach. There is also a pleasant swimming pool and swimming pool area which the owners take great care of. The owners and staff are very helpful and nice. They made us feel really welcome. Breakfast was very satisfying for us, really a lot of choices, and, after asking, they provided gluten-free food for me. When we went on early excursions they let us choose packed breakfast among a lot of possibilities. They were really helpful and kind in general. Also, they helped us when we had an annoying last minute flight cancellation. Our room was in a pretty new building… so it was new, well equipped and comfortable, with a kitchenette, too. There was a nice room terrace with table and chairs. We would come back."
