"We booked this hotel on-line and I was beyond pleased with our room and the hotel. I called to get a room by end of hallway due to TKR surgery and service dog to go out. They made sure we had just what I needed. The room was exceptionally clean (and I was Head Housekeeper @ HIE so I like things clean and very maintained. The condition of hotel is great and very clean. Breakfast was delicious and we had a variety of things from waffles to hot food to cereal, fruit, etc. The pool was heated, which made for relaxing swims and the hot tub was nice and hot, like a hot tub should be. Trust me, we've stayed at so many that they're barely luke warm and it's not worth it. They take pride in the upkeep, cleanliness and care of the pool area as well as the hotel itself. We wanted to stay an extra night and the owner personally booked it and gave us a wonderful deal, and he even let me grab a bowl of cereal to take my meds with. The hotel is in a wonderful location with Hy-vee, Fareway, Dollar General, Walmart, Mc.D's, and other food places close by as well as gas stations. Lastly, I'd like to add that I was very happy with the safety of the hotel. Being in a safe place knowing that I don't have to worry about my vehicle or taking my dog out at night is one of my highest priorities. So, if you find yourself needing a place around the Des Moines area, go the little extra and stay in Grimes @ the Red Lion. You won't be disappointed!"

"This hotel is in a great area, just a short walk away from some excellent restaurants and coffee shops and very close to the downtown area. The hotel feels very quiet and out-of-the-way though, not very noisy at all. The room itself was very clean and comfortable and the staff was very friendly. I would definitely stay here again!"

"Reservé el vuelo de mañana y se quedó en el hotel el primer día. Una gran vacaciones de invierno recientemente nacidas en casa, acaba de llegar a los 18 años, otro hotel no se permitió quedarse, se cambió temporalmente a este hotel, llamó a la recepción antes de que se confirmara que se podía quedarse a los 18 años. El servicio de transporte del hotel es excelente, hay muchos platos alrededor del hotel y también se puede llamar a la venta al cuarto. El desayuno gratuito comienza a las 3:00 de la mañana, y la habitación está limpia, muy cerca del aeropuerto. Esta experiencia fue excelente y la próxima vez volverá a vivir."

"Toilet has not been cleaned, coffee pot wasn’t rinsed, and wash cloths were damp but overall it was a nice big modern room, very clean and organized. We did request an early check in which as nicely received and accommodated… we will stay here again. Front desk both day and night were very kind and pleasant, which we appreciated also. Couldn’t beat the rate, we were on a tight budget and I was worried it would be a nightmare but it was a great stay and we were really glad with the choice!"
