I had a large tatami room with side sitting area and sink as well as an ante-room. I had three delicious Japanese meals at the ryokan that were served with polite elegance. The two in-house onsen baths were a joy to use after a day of skiing. The staff was knowledgeable about how to get around by the buses and suggested the best restaurants for days that I did not eat at the ryokan. Senshinkan Matsuya was situated in the center of.Shibu Onsen town next to three of the public onsen. I could not ask for a better stay!

Wanted a traditional ryokan experience and this ryokan ticked all the boxes! Service was so personable, and the food was so so delicious. Rooms were of decent size as well. Can’t recommend this enough. FYI that there is a pickup service from Yudanaka station to the ryokan. They can send you to the monkey park / Yudanaka station in the morning. If you’re going to the snow monkey park, the ryokan can send your luggage to Yudanaka train station (free) so that you can pick it up when you’re heading from the snow monkey park back to Yudanaka.

Estuvimos allí en febrero, afuera era negativo, pero la habitación tenía calefacción y aire acondicionado. No congelado. Los hoteles cuentan con tres onsens, uno compartido para hombres, otro para mujeres y otro privado. También te dan la llave de 9 onsens públicos del pueblo. La anfitriona puede recogerte o llevarte a la estación más cercana, también nos llevó a cenar y a Monkey Park. El desayuno es tradicional. Y en general el hotel es tradicional japonés, aconsejo a cualquiera que esté interesado en alojarse en un hotel tradicional. Pero tenga en cuenta que debe dormir en el tatama y caminar en pantuflas, no están permitidas en los hoteles y también debe lavarse en el onsen.

Nos ha gustado mucho el sitio, el hecho de tener un baño privado en la habitación ayuda mucho a la relajación y a disfrutar más la experiencia tradicional. En cuanto a las instalaciones, en general todo bien, poder utilizar todos los baños del ryokan hace que sea una experiencia más placentera. La habitación tenía algo de polvo pero en general bien. En cuanto al servicio, muy bien en la cena pero cabe destacar que si les pides una recomendación les cuesta indicarte ya que está fuera de su guión. En el desayuno, des de nuestro punto de vista es algo más frío, ya lo tienen preparado en la mesa correspondiente y no te indican como lo hacen durante la cena. Así mismo, consideramos que durante la estancia el personal tampoco está mucho por los huéspedes y no te informan de todos los servicios que te pueden ofrecer. Se pueden comprar yukata en el mismo hotel por 5000 yenes aproximadamente.

Little gem of a location and hotel. Close to see the monkeys of Yamanochi. We had a room with bed, breakfast and evening meal, which was so fresh and tasted amazing. The breakfast made sure we were set up for the day. The staff were extremely helpful and friendly.

It's a 10 mins walk uphill from train station so maybe better to try to contact them for a complimentary pick up. The place is super grand and 2 onsens. A Instagram worthy one that the males and females get to use it at different timings. The shower stuff in the onsen are mediocre though. No fancy facial stuff for women unlike some other onsens at this price range. We had breakfast and dinner for the 2 nights. And well worth it. But you have to follow a fixed timing and we felt a bit rushed but otherwise it was really great and service perfect. We had one the biggest rooms I believe Room 716. Had a sitting area and also a sleeping area. Easily fits 8 persons. We were only 2. In the day they kept the futons and brought it out at night. Towels changed every night. There is a van that goes straight to Mount Yokoteyama ski resort. The receptionist didn't seem to know about it but you could try to Google. It was a complimentary ride to and fro if you bought the lift tickets. Took only like 30 mins to get there. You can get rentals at hotels there.

Wonderful hotel to experience amazing Japanese hospitality. Our family of 4 (2 adults 2 teenagers) stayed in a Japanese style Family room. Each night futon beds were made and in the mornings packed away by staff. The room size was comfortable and has a great view of the ski slopes. I have included a picture of the view from our room with the review. Our stay included delicious buffet breakfast and Japanese dinner. Staff were very helpful and accommodating, enhancing our stay experience. In terms of location, it is about a 15-20 mins walk to the ski fields, through the old town. Nice walk and very manageable. We’ll definitely love to stay again the next time we get to visit beautiful Nozawa Onsen.

We loved staying in Koishiya! It is a lovely, quaint, cozy, homey ryokan and the service was excellent. We booked this property at the last minute because we decided to spend the night in Nagano just a week prior to the start of our trip and we are so glad we did. Shibu Onsen is a super cute town. It being covered in snow when we were there made it all the more magical. The members of the staff were super warm, acommodating, generous and conversed well in English. They picked us up from Snow Monkey Park even though it's not part of their service. We didn't know this because we haven't yet read the hotel orientation materials by then. The owner of a snack store in Monkey Park arranged the pick up for us because it looked like we were so tired from walking. Thank you so much for picking us up, Koishiya!! We stayed in the annex and we had the whole building to ourselves. It was really a memorable stay for us. They also dropped us off at Yudanaka Station after check out. The room was very large and comfortable. What made the place great was the ping pong table, mini pool table. Once you understand the onsen process it is pretty easy. Note: restaurant is by reservation only. Dinner snow crab dinner is worth the price. Open bar. Also cash only needed do the hotel tax due at arrival.
