What's more, the woman was closing the front desk while talking to her friend on speakerphone (at full volume), which made it very difficult to relax. They seemed like high school students working part-time and still getting used to the place, so I don't think it was the inn's policy, but it didn't have the atmosphere of a local izakaya or a guesthouse where you'd normally socialize, which was disappointing. She not only drives you, she creates an experience: taking us to the trailhead for our hike, picking us up at the onsen afterward, bringing us to a neighboring village for dinner, and even collecting us after the restaurant—all along beautiful panoramic routes. There is no rushing—she clearly takes pride in showing the beauty of the island. Another unforgettable moment was breakfast, where we enjoyed a spectacular view of Mount Fuji—simply breathtaking and the perfect way to start the day.
