This was our third visit to Golden Eye within four years. We were concerned that it may have changed but it did not disappoint, it may all our expectations As previously, we stayed in a beach hut which is a wonderful experience.. The hexagonal room with en-suite bathroom and veranda is on stilts. As it is amongst the trees, the breeze comes through the wooden louvred windows making air conditioning , although provided , unnecessary. We enjoyed lazing on Button beach with the Bamboo bar and restaurant. The food at the beach is the best at Golden Eye. The **** chicken, garlic prawns and curried snapper were all delicious. Breakfast and evening meals at the Bizot restaurant with wonderful views across the Caribbean Sea are also good. The food choices are a little confusing with room service being the option for 2 out of our 5 evenings. The Gazebo restaurant which was a fine dining restaurant on our first visit in 2020 is now under used. It is a pity as it is situated on a cliff overlooking the bay and with the wooden bridge over the lagoon lit up would make a great restaurant setting. The real strength of Golden Eye is its staff. They are all wonderful whether the driver meeting you at the airport, the gardeners happy to explain about the different trees, all the restaurant and bar staff, they are always cheerful, helpful and proud of working at Golden Eye. This is not a resort, although it has all the features such as accommodation, many swimming pools and sporting facilities, it is in a class of its own. Long before it became common to consider sustainability & eco friendly travel , Chris Blackwell had the vision to develop a very special and magical place. Golden Eye is simply a tropical hide away that will put you under its spell.
