"We live in the village, and thought we would go for a drink, the doors was open, lights were on, walked in, no one there the first time. the barmen decided to turn up and then said we are not open once we said sorry why is your door open? he replied with nothing. once open he served us. then tonight we walked in when it was meant to be open, door again was open, walked in, a group of people was there then at 5:45pm the people behind the bar said we are closed? sorry but these past landlady/guy. were terrible. i hear a rumour they are leaving. thank god! hopefully the new people who take over are alot more welcoming. these were terrible. a massive zero."

Sin embargo, a pesar de todo lo demás que estaba pasando en ese momento, me mostró a mi habitación y podía acomodarme, que me aprecié mucho. Mi habitación era excelente. Un cama especialmente cómoda. Nice y luz. Spaciosos baños. Muy limpio. Estaba un poco preocupado por el frente de la carretera, porque pensé que sería ruido - pero no fue, no estaba molestado por el tráfico. La junta de especialistas me ha retirado, no fue el precio esperado de la mayoría de los pubs, con varios artículos menos comunes. El bar tenía un ambiente muy agradable, gente que salía del pueblo, amistad general, un sentido de todo ser hecho para sentirse bienvenido. También tenía desayuno por la mañana (no incluido) - un desayuno básico de servicio personal que en realidad era muy conveniente. Entonces, como se arregló, sólo podía dejarme salir y irme. El otro punto era el valor por dinero. Absolutamente excelente valor. Recomiendo al Lion Azul a cualquiera que quiera apoyar un verdadero negocio local qne que quiera tener un sentido de comunidad."

"We were five friends and family that stayed in the Bearslake Inn for one night in June 2026. The Inn is easy to get to, situated in the country side in Devon. The five of us had booked three rooms, which may have been all the rooms they had. We arrived at 2PM on the checkin day, but the Inn was closed at that time with a sign on the door apologizing for the closure, explaining it was due to staff shortages, and that they would open at 4PM. So after a lunch in the neighborhood we arrived back at around 4PM and checked in. To get to the rooms the easiest was to walk through the pub, and then the rooms were accessible from the other side. The rooms were located on ground and first floor, and were distant enough from the main inn that there was no noise from it. The rooms were big, the room I stayed in had a double bed and a single bed. There was a well appointed bathroom, but shower had to be taken in a bath tub with no shower curtain, which would have effectively meant the whole room would have become wet. So no shower for me on that occasion, but that was manageable. The beds were comfortable, the room quiet and dark, and I got a really good nights sleep. Over night there was no staff present at the Inn, which makes sense and was not a problem. If you wanted breakfast you had to fill in a list and they would deliver it to your room at your time of choice. We ordered breakfast against my better judgement. The list to choose from was poorly designed, in effect it was impossible to order bread, butter, jam and cheese simply because you were only allowed to check 3 boxes in that group. All up, it was just not worth the money, but some in our party really needed breakfast as the first thing in the morning, so we did it anyway. We had a great dinner in the Inn the evening we arrived. It was fairly pricey, but it was well worth the money. Under normal circumstances I would post a separate review for their restaurant, but since I cannot remember the details well enough to write a sensible review, suffice to say here that the restaurant meal was the absolute highlight, it was probably the best meal we had on our two week vacation we had in the area. The weather was not great, otherwise there was a great outdoor area to relax as well as to eat and drink should you so wish."

"⭐ 1 Star I have been a loyal customer of The Fountain Hotel for years, regularly bringing my family for Sunday roasts. However, after my most recent visit, I received a £100 parking fine two months later—despite parking in the hotel's own car park, as I have always done. I called the hotel five times to ask for assistance, and each time, I was told the manager would sort it out. He did not. Worse still, he never returned my calls, which is absolutely unacceptable customer service. Given how poorly this was handled, we will no longer be dining here. It's a shame because we used to visit once or twice a month, but we will now take our business elsewhere. Be warned—if you visit, you might end up with an unexpected parking fine and no help from management!"
