¡Nos alegramos de estar aquí por fin! Venimos aquí y nos quedamos todos los años en nuestro hotel favorito Ettal. Covid 19 desapareció el viaje de los últimos años, así que finalmente regresar fue un pieza de cielo! Es como volver a casa! ¡Es tan bueno ver todos los rostros familiares, en la casa de mantenimiento, Jens en el escritorio delantero, Melanie y todos en la sala de cenas, como volver a la familia! Tenemos nuestra habitación favorita con vistas al monasterio, {muchas gracias, Jens, y me encanta escuchar las campanas que sonambulan. Hay también habitaciones que miran el paisaje glorioso. El hotel está a una milla de Oberammergau, y Garmisch y Mittenwald están con en unas 30 a 40 minutos en coche. Hay tanta belleza en esta zona de Baviera, nuestro lugar favorito en el planeta ¡Esta vez nos quedamos 6 noches, y el año próximo podremos quedarnos más. No queríamos realmente salir, fue tan agradable escapar de los paseos en casa, y estar en un lugar tranquilo, Baviera. Si te quedas aquí no estarás decepcionado.

We stayed here for two nights as we drove along the Alpine Route and couldn't have made a better choice, this is a charming Art Nouveau hotel with a lot of its original features intact. Now you will read many reviews that say it needs modernising and re-equipping but if you look beneath the surface you will see what a fine hotel this is. The service from every member of staff goes beyond what you will find in the chain hotels and that includes the youngest girl who waited at breakfast. They have the widest choice of quality tea (probably 20 different ones) that I have ever seen at any hotel that we have stayed at. Breakfast itself was excellent with a good selection of meats, cheeses, yoghurts, fruits etc and the bacon and scrambled egg was cooked to perfection, it's probably the first time in fifty years that I have had traditional bacon with the two little bits of bone in, great memories. The room itself was large and quiet, the bed comfortable and the shower worked well. I agree that some may think the rooms need modernising but we do not come to hotels to spend hours in our room, we tend to rise early and after breakfast we go out until we are ready for bed. There is so much to see and so little time. We did use the sauna on one evening and it was very good and hot 90-100C with room for four or maybe six people at a time but only one other couple used it while we were there. There is a cool relaxation area with four recliners and a couple of chairs but you can also go out into the garden area. We did not use the pool but several others were using it, again you can exit onto the garden. On the Saturday evening we ate at an excellent family restaurant about 100 metres away, unfortunately my wife left her handbag there with our passports in it. We were going back to Munich for a concert the following morning and returning late in the evening, we informed the reception of our problem. On our return at 3.30am Monday morning the night porter had my wife's handbag already for her. If we were passing through here again this is where we would stay without any shadow of doubt.

It’s a great location a short walk from the town centre. The staff were excellent and gave some great advice on things to do and when would be busy. Lovely breakfast and a comfy room. We didn’t eat dinner there as there are a few great options locally, but we were very happy.

Y nunca sabes qué habitación te asignarán. Ellos tienen un tercero y un entorno tan diferente para todas sus habitaciones.

Stayed here as part of a group tour going to the Oberammergau passion play. The hotel is about a half hour drive from Oberammergau itself. The hotel at first seemed quite old fashioned with lots of wood and patterned carpets and a very rickety single lift. However the hotel is actually a very nice mix of old and modern. With a very nice seating area in the reception area and a nice bar area. Our room was on the 2nd floor, we did manage to squeeze 3 people into the tiny rickety lift, but it wasn’t easy. The only plus was at least the lift was fast. The room was nice with a separate seating area, the beds initially seemed soft, but actually were comfortable, the storage was good and there was a decent flat screen TV. There was also a safe, which I couldn’t initially get to work as there were no instructions, however I asked at reception for help and they sent housekeeping very quickly to show me how it worked. They also sent someone to change the pillows which were far too soft. The bathroom/shower room was very nice, obviously recently upgraded, it was very clean and modern with nice toiletries and bathrobes were included. We had a very nice balcony which would be nice to sit out on, unfortunately we had no time (or energy) to do this. The restaurant is on the ground floor, with a nice selection on the menu which we enjoyed. The staff were lovely very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was served in the conservatory area, which was frankly cold as breakfast was early and the windows were open as was the door. Breakfast was continental with some hot food, scrambled egg and one other hot side. The reason I’ve given 4 stars instead of 5 is there was no air conditioning in our room, the room was very hot, we left the window open of course, but that just let more hot air in, also the lift really was poor and breakfast was really quite chilly with windows and door open in the early morning.

La única satisfacción es que el ambiente del restaurante no es malo, pero las habitaciones son tan rudimentarias que no puede ser más rudimentario.

Alpenhof es un hotel bastante agradable, pero no hay muchas cosas pequeñas, no hay manera de comparar con otros cinco hoteles de estrellas en los Alpes. Great location on the outskirts of town but easily walked from the station in the summer/autumn, just be aware of the hike up a steep trail to the entrance - there is an alternative! Food was wonderful - great variety in the buffet breakfast and dinner. Staff were very friendly and helpful; they make you so welcome. At the back of the hotel are trails with fabulous views of Zugspitze and Alpspitze; you can hike the old bob sleigh run, too. We really enjoyed our stay and would be happy to return.
