My husband and I did the Roar & Snore for our 20th Anniversary. We picked the glamp style over the hotel room style accommodation (Wildlife Retreat) because there looked to be more animal tours and experiences with the Roar & Snore. Even though I didn't sleep well (knew I wouldn't going in - I am such a light sleeper) it was so worth it! There was heaps of time in the zoo while the it was closed to the public, didn't get back to our tent until 10pm and you are up and out at 7am. This time included behind the scenes and in the Science & Learning Centre. We saw animals regular zoo goers don't. The guides were really great as was all the staff. The tents were nice and the bathroom facilities were modern and gorgeous, nicer then most hotels. They were a moments walk from our tent via lit path. We left our tent flap open all night so we could wake to the gorgeous view (all but 1 of 17 tents had at least a partial view of the harbour/city scape. We were in the front row of tents, the photo was taken from my bed in the morning. The food was decent and there was plenty - dinner, desert, and breakfast. A day in the zoo on your own when the zoo opens day 2. We went early, parked at the zoo (parking is included), took a bus to the Wharf. Took a ferry ride and then came back for check in. We were lucky to have a small group of 12 total. Apparently the night before was 43! I think that might change the experience a bit but I think it would still be worth it. If you really like a visit to the zoo, then definitely take it to the next level with the Taronga Zoo Roar & Snore.
