The view from the house is just unbeatable. What a lovely place to relax and take it easy. A room with a river view is a must here. It was lovely to have breskfast at your own terrace overlooking the river. Beautiful pool, once again, it is the view that makes it.

This inn has amazing views , clean rooms, nice breakfast and is reasonably priced. It is easy to find and is well located in Douro Valley. What was disappointing was the lack of interest from all staff. Our check in seemed to be a bother. One staff came and turned on the music in the lobby and didn’t even interact with us. Staff were very cold and unfriendly. This was strange to us

My parents are staying there right now. They booked a room on a high floor and when they got there, their room was on a low floor with a dank, moldy smell and bugs all over the room, including a swarm of ants in their shower. The owner was completely unresponsive, could not give them a better room (he suggested another room with the same smell, but without a view, which is the entire point of this hotel), would not give them a partial refund (since it was clear he stuck them in a less expensive room) and would not help them with the bug situation. They both have an allergy to mold, so it's uncomfortable to say the least. Beautiful view seems to be the only positive of this hotel, but surely there are others with a nice view, where the owners believe in making their guests comfortable.

Amazing location above The Douro with outstanding views. Unfortunately, we arrived in a heat wave of unprecedented weather with temperatures in the mid 40s. Too hot to do many of things we had planned to do. However, the hotel was a little gem A family run business with a small amount of rooms, each individually furnished (I believe) in tradition Portuguese style. Our room had a balcony, with an amazing view, well equipped bathroom, large extremely comfortable bed (bed more comfortable than at home!) ample pillows, monogrammed good quality bed linen, as were the towels and quiet efficient air conditioning - a god send in those temperatures. The whole place was very serene and tranquil with lawned areas around a small pool with plenty of shade. The grounds and the house were spotless, incredibly clean and tidy in fact. Parking was on the side of the road which was not a problem. A hand full of softly-spoken young ladies (some speaking good English), dressed in white uniform seem to 'run' the hotel, multitasking reception, house-keeping, breakfast and any other jobs that needed doing but had little presence otherwise. It was all a little bit quirky - especially the white uniform - but somehow added to the tranquillity. Our breakfast table on the terrace, which was pre-ordered and served by one of the young ladies, had the most amazing views down the Douro. Wonderful start to the day. This has now been added to my list of top 5 hotels in Europe and I can defiantly recommend. We hope to return some time in the future.

We stayed here for 5 nights, wished we had had more time!! Absolutely lovely hotel with an amazing staff. Breakfast was served in a basket delivered to our room and was quite substantial ( we were asked to chose each day from their offerings). Our room had an incredible view of the Douro River and was very spacious and well appointed. So much to see in this area...I was very glad we had elected to spend several days here! The staff recommendations for dinner in town were spot on and charming, too!!! I highly recommend this stunning hotel!!!

Views. This is what you come for. Also we decided to spend on night in the Douro valley to experience the tranquility outside the busy streets of Porto. And we were not disappointed! The service was slightly modified because of Covid-19 regulations, but that was ok. We booked the smallest room and had the chance to upgrade to a large one against a small fee. The rooms have really comfortable beds, sufficient size and a good en-suite bathroom. The views from the property are stunning, as most of the photos here show. The breakfast that was included was more than sufficient with lots of options to choose from. The staff was attentive and very friendly. We chose to have dinner in the area - we were not very impressed with the offer in the local village Mesao Frio (we stopped at several places but none of them seemed inviting, even though we had locals with us). We decided to take a short trip by car to the next larger village, Regua, where we found several good options. We can definitely recommend Restaurante Vista do Douro, with good options, an amazing staff and resonable prices.
