The Walnut Tree Inn Mere

Just wanted to say a huge THANK YOU to the owners and staff team at The Walnut Tree. We were there for a big 60th birthday celebration on 9th September, a very hot day. The outside area at the back was set up under an awning with tables, chairs, and cooling fans. The ‘presents’ table was in a cool area so flowers and chocolates didn’t ruin. They had thought of the needs of those in wheelchairs, those travelling from far afield ( seating spaces, car parking spaces and rooms ready ). All of us had been able to order our own favourites from the 3 course menu in advance, with each course served swiftly by the great staff team. Extra care had been taken to keep special celebration cakes chilled with the champagne. Faultless , friendly and caring. The rooms we stayed in were spacious, comfortable, and had thoughtful tea, coffee and toiletries. THANK YOU ALL FOR OUR FANTASTIC DAY & STAY.

Arrived to a warm welcome at the Walnut Tree Inn by owners Mark & Samantha, following an exhausting day visiting Stourhead. This traditional inn is a delight & the Walnut room we had booked for the night was spacious, clean & comfortable. As well as the king sized bed, there was a large couch, a chair & very large bathroom with both bath & shower units. Although the inn is sited by a small roundabout, traffic noise did not disturb us during the night. The bar & dining area is well presented with tables well spaced. There is also a very nice conservatory area at the front & a large patio area at the rear of the inn. A good selection of drinks, reasonably priced were available. Our selected evening meals comprised of a delicious starter of pate with brandy (worth a try) & mains comprising the Belly Pork & the Walnut Inn burger. There was also an excellent breakfast menu to suit all tastes. All foods presented were tasty & of the best quality. I would also like to commend all the staff who provided such an excellent service, making the stay that little bit better. Highly recommend & would definitely use again

Had an early check in which was great and enabled us to get ready for a wedding in our room. Breakfast very fresh and quality ingredients.

We’ve stayed before but the standard of all aspects of this pub is in no danger of flagging. The management, their staff and the rooms deliver on all fronts. We will definitely return

It was convenient for our planned visit to Stourhead gardens. The breakfast and evening meals were excellent. The room was very comfortable.

We booked this with our Tesco reward points was well worth it. Staff were so nice and couldn’t do enough for you. Beds were very comfy, room size was great for a family of four. Lots of choice for breakfast and we had dinner there one night. Food was delicious. Cannot fault them at all.

Great place to break our journey from Cornwall. Lovely room with a super comfy bed and generous bathroom. We ate dinner there and menu offered a variety of options and food was very tasty. The staff were very friendly and super efficient. Monday night was quiz night so it was very busy and they were working their socks off. Breakfast options were good and the full English was excellent.

My husband and I booked an overnight stay in the Walnut Tree at the last minute on our way home from visiting friends. What a great decision! The room was very comfortable and although you can hear the early morning traffic, it wasn’t a problem for us. Everything about our stay was just lovely. Evening meal, breakfast and staff all excellent. Would definitely recommend.

Stopped overnight the Sycamore room was lovely,big bath room with bath and shower.The bed room had free bottled water and was very clean and comfortable.The food in the restaurant was excellent,I had seafood Linguine as a main course it was fresh cooked and tasted wonderful.Beer was well kept and very refreshing. Really enjoyed my stay .
