Peabody Memphis

Excelente ubicación, a poca distancia a pie de Beale Street. La habitación estaba muy limpia. No te la pierdas. Sin duda me alojaré aquí de nuevo.

A check off the bucket list for me, finally! Very enjoyable except for a couple of things. GPS took us to side where horse and carriage park. I walked in, no signs pointing to check in/front desk but I finally found it. The two staff members, maybe one was in training, were not from the area, I will try and say nicely. I asked where valet was, and was only told, Second St. Not: well let me show you a drawing, etc. I said, look, we have spent over 20 minutes going around and around the block to no avail. This hotel covers two blocks the staff member stated. I then said, we found the covered garage parking. Staff member said keep going. I went ahead and checked in while there and after ALL the discussion about valet parking, the same staff member had the nerve to ask if we were going to do valet parking or not!!! AH, YES, isn’t that what we have been discussing?? Was it my south Tx accent? Hmmm. Well if you do valet, staff stated, bring us your valet stub. Ok. So, started off not good! When we finally found valet, even the valet gentleman said they have asked for signage to no avail! And that yes, front desk as well as other parts are training employees from other parts of the world. The room was nice, generous in size, bed a bit high off the ground, no outside view per se out the window, but quiet and clean room. Oh the bathroom! TINY. Yes, it is a very old hotel, too bad the wall couldn’t have been bumped out into the bedroom. Glad there was a tub instead of shower only which is usually the new normal. But, whoever checked off on the remodel, needs glasses. Horrible paint job. Why go to the trouble of new flooring and walls, etc and NOT refinish the nice old doors?? Paint slapped on. Seemed like several coats on top of each other. Even the hinges. I took several,pics. We did eat two meals in the restaurant, pretty good but expensive. Staff was nice. Wish I could remember names. Dessert from the tiny coffee/ice cream shop, also a nice employee. Shopped in all shops, which all were GREAT! Too many t shirts to choose from, LOL! Nice large selection. Watched the ducks the morning before we left. I would definitely like to go back and stay again and longer than one night at that.

The room was ok, but not very well maintained. The bathroom was tiny. So small in fact, it is difficult to adequately describe. I've experienced a few like this in Asia, but never in the US, even in heritage properties. The area surrounding the hotel feels quite unsafe, especially at night. I read that the CEO of the Memphis Convention and Visitors Bureau was shot dead walking downtown in broad daylight. Looking around, it's not hard to understand why the national guard may be needed here.

We had an incredible 2 night stay to celebrate our anniversary. The entire staff - front desk, valet, porters, shop associates, restaurant servers, housekeeping, etc are very friendly and helpful. The highlight was the Duck Master and his presentation in taking the ducks back to their duck palace in the evening. He has found his calling! We enjoyed being able to sit in the lobby to take a break from tours and sites. Thanks to everyone for making it such a lovely stay!

Celebrated my 70th birthday by being the assistant to the Peabodys Duck Master Kenon- truly made for a most memorable birthday experience! We chose the Peabody specifically for this, but we were also pleased with the total hotel experience -the elegant atmosphere, guest and spa services, shopping, room accommodations and food were excellent.

From the moment we arrived we were not disappointed. The bar was well tended. The restaurant was great, Caprisio, the waitress Coco was lovely, smiley, kind and very attentive. The duck march was so lovely. It was great having the ducks in the fountain all day. Lovely room and very clean. Lovely duck in my gin too!
