"Gorgeous old family estate turned Hotel/Guest House. Spacious and comfortable room. Perfect location to come back to after driving around exploring the Scottish Boarders. Breakfast service was lacking in its service. Young and inexperienced staff spent too much time standing around doing nothing instead of ensuring the buffet was stocked, used dishes cleared off tables, or even tables set for guests."

"We have just spent a lovely weekend at this grand old establishment which is around 200 years old. Many reviews focus on the ageing decor and other obvious maintenance issues, but there is so much more to the Buccleuch Arms. Yes, if you want 5 star luxury, neon lights and shiny stainless steel it may not be for you. But if you prefer a comfortable, easy and relaxed traditional welcome then it will be right up your street. Our room, (No. 14) was large and comfortable with a nice garden view and an enormous luxurious bed. Yes, the bathroom is tired and could do with an upgrade but the shower worked and it was functional. The food is fantastic, and we enjoy good meals at home, but often in hotels and restaurants we are disappointed. But not here!! Also, if the weather is good you can enjoy drinks in the beautiful garden with an abundance of shrubs and flowers. The staff are also very good and the bar area is relaxing and welcoming. The location is another benefit at the Buccleuch, as you have so many options to visit close at hand. Melrose is a very nice town to enjoy and Dryburgh Abbey is just amazing. In conclusion, don't be put off by negative reviews, this old lady has much to offer."

"Beautiful old house , basic b&b , bathroom is not en-suite but is private, lots of parking but not near enough to Melrose to walk. Host seems a really nice man but we couldn’t get our check in instructions as told as he didn’t answer the phone. Breakfast adequate only."

"Warm welcome in a lovely house and very relaxing 3 days. Great room with very comfortable bed in an amazing setting with wonderful views over the Tweed Valley. Suzy’s food is excellent and she and Katie really looked after us. Good walking around Dryburgh Abbey and St Boswells. Clint Lodge is a gem. Looking forward to coming back."
