Sant'angelo in Matera is absolutely outstanding and beautiful hotel, located with a stunning view and close to main attractions! Davide who welcomed us when we arrived in the middle of the night was outstanding in service and super friendly. In general, all staff was very friendly 🙏 We loved the cave room, beautifully decorated, very clean, with a stunning view!. The breakfast was delicious and coffee excellent. It was an experience that goes above and beyond our expectations, the trip to beautiful Matera will be remembered as unique.

We were in this hotel at the beginning of June 24. Everything was absolutely perfect ! First of all, the kindness and commitment of Betty and Ivana on phone who gave us all the necessary informations to facilitate our arrival in Matéra and the journey to the hotel ! Then the warm welcome from Ivana upon our arrival ! The Help from Samir, so kind and available, with our luggage ! And which gives us information about the city. The hotel, ideally located in a quiet area, with a magnificent view on the Paleolithic caves, and which is entirely built in the rocks !! And the rooms, under the vaults, so chic, of exquisite taste, comfortable, where you immediately feels so good ! Finally, the breakfast, copious and varied, which offers fresh and delicious products ! It was an exceptional stay in an exceptional establishment ! We loved it and can’t wait… to come back soon !!

Excellent Hotel with a amazing view and room! The lady in the front desk was excellent w great recommendations for us. Nadi restaurant was YUM! Out stay was perfect and the room was spacious and very unique and comfortable! My stay was amazing! Shower was great! Breakfast was very nice too!

To be honest, I was skeptical about this one. I needed to book the hotel last minute (like literally the previous night), so seeing an old-looking building (probably constructed in the 1980s) was not really encouraging BUT I wanted to see Matera, so I went ahead. The hotel surprised me and by a lot. First of all - yes, the building is old BUT all inside is renovated, so all is great. The rooms are good in size (not too small at all, just right) and everything is very clean. You have a full minibar if you want something and the hotel has a working restaurant and staff at reception 24/7. The breakfast is phenomenal (like, literally anything any traveler could want) and the staff are helpful and friendly. The best thing about the hotel is the location. Basically, there is no other hotel in Matera which is closer to the Sassi and the historical center. You just need 5 minutes of slow walking (entrance to the old town square is just behind the hotel :) ) and you are at the viewpoint and the cistern. There is a vending machine for snacks and drinks just less than 10 minutes away down the street from the hotel (in the old town) and any sights and amazing places to eat are within the same 5-10 minute distance. If you want to see the historical center of Matera, this is the place to stay (you won't regret it, trust me!). The hotel is very popular with Italians visiting Matera, so keep that in mind and if you are not travelling solo, like me, better book in advance :) The prime location comes with a single downside and a few things to consider (listing them here as they are just things to keep in mind and not something that is a huge issue) - the proximity to the Sassi means you will be quite far away from the bus station (3 kilometers) and the train station (1.5 kilometers). The distance is not that much BUT it is an uphill slope 90% of the time, so if you have a lot of luggage, better take a taxi. I loved it, so there is nothing I can put my finger at as a bad things, really, I just want to continue what I started above with the things you should keep in mind when visiting. If you come by car, make sure to notify the hotel in advance, as it is within a restricted parking area and parking lots are limited. Also be aware that the hotel is busy (as I said, very popular with Italians visiting) and check-in starts at 15.00, so if you come in earlier than that, you may need to wait. The staff would do anything they can to accommodate you early, BUT if you plan on arriving before noon, better notify them, to get your room ready. The hotel also have luggage storage, just so you know. Did I say I loved it? Just to repeat I can't wait to return!

La habitación era de 208 y era limpia y cómoda. El desayuno era diferente. Ellos tenían pan y pasteles en las mesa y le serviría café. Me pregunté si tenían huevos y se les dijo que iban a salir, pero no vi ningún lugar para los huevos. Se sacaron con unos 12 platos ovalados con 3 piezas de bacon y huevos abrasados, pero los huevos parecían que estaban colocados en la plata y luego se pastaron. Tenían una ”piel” en ellos. Quizás se sentaron en el aire por unas pocas horas y habían secado. Tres personas estaban en mi mesa y tuvimos tres platos de huevos, así que cada uno tomaba uno. Los platos estaban muy calientes. A medida que cada vez más personas llegaron a la comida, somos un grupo de 35, se anunció que sólo se proporcionarían 3 platos por mesa y deberíamos compartir. OOPS. Porque los pájaros tempranos asumían una plata por persona, no había suficientes huevos para las personas posteriores. ¿Es porque estamos allí fuera de temporada? ¿Porque todos están tratando de recuperarse de la pandemia? ¿Porque esta región de Italia es barata? ¿Porque la compañía turística tiene una ”Trato”? Los jardines y los terrenos fueron hermosos y relajante.

En este hotel moderno, llegamos por coche, y podemos aparcar el coche en uno de los espacios de estacionamiento gratuitos en la zona de la calle, frente al impresionante edificio. En la recepción nos recibieron una dama que era muy amable y super profesional al mismo tiempo. Nos dieron consejos valiosos para nuestra estadía en la ciudad, y nos ayudó a reservar una mesa para cenar cuando los asientos en los restaurantes eran escasos debido al fin de semana. Las habitaciones espaciales tienen un diseño creativo. Al mismo tiempo, son muy homenaje. Todo está absolutamente limpio. Las camas son cómodas con paños agradables. También hay aire acondicionado y ducha de lluvia. En el desayuno, nos acogieron con satisfacción el personal brillante que complementó el buffet de calidad y rico con el servicio perfecto.

El hotel MH Matera nos encantó a todos. Habitaciones súper confortables y baño con todos los detalles. El desayuno completísimo y todo muy fresco y rico. Instalaciones y todas las zonas muy bonitas y decoradas con muy buen gusto. La distancia al centro no es un problema porque se llega muy rápido. Además el personal, especialmente Maria, muy profesional y encantador. Espero volver pronto y quedarme más tiempo. Muchas gracias.
