"Great location but that is about all. Our room was like a prison cell, shower area was disgusting! And you would be very lucky if you had a hot shower in the morning also you could only use shower as hand held as no bracket! Stayed 11 days and only had 2 hot showers in all that time! Did complain but was told that because it was cloudy the day before the water tanks hadn't warmed the water HUH!! What an excuse. No wifi unless you sit by the pool Go cheap you certainly get what you pay for"

"The hotel was very good, with modern design and modern facilities, we had two triple standard rooms and all of them were clean, tidy and well furnished on arrival. The shower and tap had good water pressure as well. The pool and outside were of high quality and very enjoyable to use as well, and again the furniture was comfy and clean. We stayed for 1 week at half board and all meals were of high quality and full of flavour, with the dinner time meal rotating menus each day and breakfast being the same staples each day, with a good mix of international and national items. Rooms were cleaned every day to a high standard and towels replaced every other day. Staff were lovely and extremely helpful and friendly, especially Tina who was very helpful with ordering a taxi for us to take us to Knossos palace and telling us how to get back by bus in Herakleion."

"Booked a Suite with seaside view for 5 nights in August, we only stayed for one after discovering the real views include an abandoned building. Warning as you will not see this on any of their websites or google. Rooms from inside were nice but beds were hard and the WIFI was very weak. Such a disappointment. If you wish to stay here, I would suggest to request a room on the opposite side of the abandoned 3 storey eyesore."

"My friends and I chose this hotel because it’s right next to the Malia strip, and we were going on a party holiday. We arrived late at night after a long day of travelling, so we were already exhausted. Instead of being welcomed, the security guard immediately had a go at us. From the moment we arrived, he seemed to judge us purely because we were a group of young people, assuming we were there to cause trouble. Before we’d even had a chance to check in properly, he told us that if he caught us in the same room after midnight, he would “throw us out” and we’d “sleep outside.” While we completely understand that hotels have rules and expect guests to follow them, there are far more respectful ways to explain them. He also implied that we would be bringing strangers back to our rooms, which we found quite insulting considering he’d only just met us. He described the hotel as a family hotel, yet we didn’t see any children during our stay, and the majority of guests appeared to be around our age (18–20). He then showed us to our room, where he watched me (an 18-year-old girl) struggle to carry a 20kg suitcase up two flights of stairs. I nearly fell several times, yet instead of offering to help, he repeatedly told me to “hurry up.” His attitude made us feel uncomfortable from the moment we arrived, and we spent the first night feeling anxious that we’d be told off for no reason. The frustrating part is that throughout the rest of our holiday he never had to speak to us again because we were respectful, followed the rules, and caused no issues whatsoever. It felt unfair that he had judged us before giving us a chance. Aside from the security guard, the hotel itself was lovely. The rooms were clean and comfortable, the pool was relaxing, and all of the other staff members we interacted with were friendly and welcoming. Unfortunately, our first impression was so negative that the security guard really overshadowed what was otherwise an enjoyable stay."

"Holiday from hell , please read this review if you are staying here just to set the tone we were told ( if you even breath wrong you will get evicted ) Where do I start , first of all we arrived and they charged us 60 euros each , for a tourist tax and air-con and a safe , when we asked for an itemised bill they couldn’t come up with one so we have no idea what we were paying for. The rooms we advertised incorrectly we asked for a room for 3 and we got a double bed and a tiny bed best fit for a toddler, not only this when we arrived there were silverfish in our room and blood stains in my bed. There were no locks on the bathrooms either. Our air-con was completely useless and flooded all our room and got the suitcases soaking, all they did to fix this was put a towel down which did nothing , eventually they got around to fixing it on the 5th day of the holiday after telling us they would sort it straight away. The balcony’s are very small and for a 3 person room you could only fit two people at a push on the balcony Next up on this rant the staff and hospitality of this place is completely shocking no effort to make us welcome, everyone here was rude, except the woman behind the bar who was the only one who genuinely seemed to care . There was a 5 euro limit on the card machine which forced us to buy multiple drinks at once another scam in this hotel. Further a €10 charge was requested for wifi as ‘not everyone uses it anymore’ and that €10 was per device not person.(the wifi did not work) and when asked for a refund for the wifi it was slapped into my hand I felt so offended I offered to give it back and the woman said ‘if you breathe wrong you will be kicked out’ The day before we left we asked for an extended room stay till 5 o’clock on the day we leave they said it would be 40 euros for one room to which we agreed, in the morning they said it would be 45 euros so when we asked why it changed they said we were being rude and said we can’t have an extended check out at all further showing there hospitality skills We were only supplied with one towel each for the entire stay and were only given one toilet roll for each room Now onto the rules , 1 not allowed to be on the balcony past 11 which ruined are nights completely 2 even if you are staying in the same hotel your not allowed in your freinds rooms 3 not allowed to bring your own bottles of water to the pool area which makes you fall into the trap of the 5 euro card reader limit 4 not allowed to bring anyone back to the hotel"

"Estructura cerca del centro pero muy silenciosa. En el complejo limpio.. hay la posibilidad de disfrutar de la piscina y el bar. Personal muy educado y amable.. nos invitaron a la fiesta de cumpleaños de los niños y nos acogieron como dos de ellos. Las limpiezas se hacen cada dos días, incluyendo el cambio de toallas, las lenceras se cambian una vez por semana. La estructura tiene un gatillo como mascotas llamado Diego y es hermoso y sobre todo muy bueno. Si decidiera volver a esta parte de Creta, la reemplazaría."

"We arrived at 23.15hrs and received a warm welcome from Yannis and Nikki the owners. Very family orientated business with Stelios, their son helping out in the bar and restaurant. Nikki should be an interior designer .. the bar, restaurant and surroundings are tastefully decorated with a beach theme. Breakfast was buffet style and there was ample choice. Dined a couple of times too and the food was delicious. Would highly recommend it. 3 minute walk from the beach."

"Week here in June, loved it. Close to the nightlife for our kids to go out clubbing but far enough away to be quiet. Biggest attribute was the staff, great service and attitude (special mention to Annamaria , housekeeping- amazing and helpful). Bar drinks were good, I didn't realise there was an "ultra all inclusive" which we were not on, so some branded drinks and the adult rooftop bar we couldn't access. Food was great, and the selection was plentiful. No issues getting loungers at the beach nor by the pool."

"I love smaller family run businesses and this was almost that. Not small by any means but not too large either. Place was just right. Accommodation was clean and tidy with all your needs covered. (Fridge, small freezer compartment and a kettle) Cleaning was done every day and to a good standard. (Cleaners were all lovely and very friendly!) Staff/family who own and run the place are just amazing. So friendly and helpful, and even the younger ones, too! You can see that their business is on the utmost importance to them. Food and drinks available on the premises was lovely! The pool was lovely, although at times perhaps quite full especially with abandoned floaties which took up a lot of space. Only thing we were sad about was the pool closing at 8pm as we would have liked to have had a dip later in the evening but it’s not the end of the world especially when everything else was so good! Within walking distance of shops and nightlife etc. Get yourself to kristalli hotel apartments and you’ll see for yourselves ❤️"

"We chose this hotel for our stay, but the experience was overshadowed by a major organizational issue, handled in a disappointing manner by the front desk staff. Overbooking for a Third of Our Stay: From day one, we were informed that, due to overbooking caused exclusively by the hotel, we would be moved to another room, of lower quality than the one we had paid for, for approximately a third of the duration of our stay. What stood out in particular was the "change room" form we received – it was not printed individually for our case, but was part of a stack duplicated in an undefined number of identical copies. This detail removes any doubt that the overbooking was an isolated incident; rather, it appears to be a recurring practice of the hotel, applied systematically to multiple guests alike. Aggressive Communication and Responsibility Shifted onto the Guest: Instead of an empathetic and transparent approach, the reception staff adopted an aggressive tone, attempting to turn a purely organizational failure of the hotel into a problem that guests should accept without objection, as if it were something normal. This attitude is unacceptable – overbooking is the hotel's sole responsibility, and guests should not be put in the position of having to "bear" its consequences without proper explanations and a minimum degree of consideration. Significant Delay Compared to the Communicated Schedule: Although the room change had been verbally promised for 10:00 AM, it only took place after more than 3 hours of waiting, and only following our repeated insistence regarding the status of the transfer and the completion of the new room's cleaning. The lack of proactivity and clear communication throughout this interval added an extra layer of frustration to an already unpleasant situation. One Positive Aspect: It should be objectively noted that hotel representatives did offer an in-kind compensation, changing the original "mountain view" option to a "sea view" one. This gesture was appreciated and partially eased the inconvenience caused. Conclusion: Kernos Beach has potential (location, the compensation offered), but the overbooking practices appear to be systemic, and the way reception staff handle these situations – through aggressive communication and shifting responsibility onto the guest – needs serious review. I recommend that hotel management reassess its overbooking policy and, especially, the training of staff in dealing with guests who are already in a situation created by the hotel, not by them.
