I arrived at the hotel and the first thing I noticed was the old musty odor in the lobby that traveled throughout the hotel. My room smell was old and musty. The linens were clean the mattered was old and there was a giant waterbug walking around the Bathroom. The TV was out dated and only got 10 channels. The shampoo looked the be previously used, and there was never any coffee in the coffee pots. The staff wasn't overly bothered by it.

Great hotel for the money, though it's a little off the beaten path (I had no idea where to find Old Saybrook from the hotel location). Still, it was perfect for my needs. They had a nice (free) continental breakfast and the pool area was great.

It’s dark. Needs some updates. Staff was nice in person but not so friendly over the phone. Issues with key cards not addressed.

The hotel was nice. Friendly staff. The sink in the bathroom had poor drainage to the point where it would clog while you were brushing your teeth. The shower faucet seemed really hard to pull to get the water started. I think they need to fix the plumbing more than anything.

Although the bed was quite comfortable, and the complimentary breakfast was good, the property was quite worn down: carpets throughout looked dirty and spotted, the bathroom fixtures were pitted and had a moldy edge. And, the tub in our room did not work -- no stopper, and no stopper available in the hotel (and my stay lasted three nights). The television/cable did not work, providing only three of the 25 stations that should have been available. And NO ONE could come and fix it.
Except for one young woman, the staff -- both at the front desk and in the dining room -- was inattentive and unresponsive. Not a great place to stay.

Nice property. Friendly staff, comfortable beds and good breakfast. I was nervous when we pulled up because the outside of the building was in bad shape. I was happy the inside was much better.
