"I am shocked to read all the fairly good reviews. The only thing I can think of is that people have very low expectations or don't travel very much. I understand there are very limited options in Newberry - this may be the only hotel, but I wouldn't stay here again unless it was an emergency. To start with the good - the room was ready when we got there, the front desk staff was very nice, and the location was obviously desirable on our way to Tahquamenon Falls. However, the overall hotel was just tired and dingy. Our room smelled so musty I had to go buy Febreeze at the local dollar store. and the bed was not comfortable. I honestly just felt uneasy there. The people who work there are very nice, but if would highly recommend driving out of your way to get anything else that would be a step above!"
