Brookhall Cottages

I never write reviews good or bad and have stayed in many hotels/ B&Bs/ Guest-houses but felt this needed saying. Very disappointing stay in cottage closest to entrance at road. We were greeted with a welcome of "Let's square up now". The oil boiler in the utility was stinking the place with the smell of fuel, advised by owner to keep utility door closed to try to contain fumes in room, not successful and hardly an acceptable situation, there was a wooden barrel converted into a chair which initially looked nice and kids liked it, until we noticed it was barely held together by a couple of light nails and random pieces of wood, lucky one of the kids wasn't hurt with it. Cable to back of television had a broken connection which was stuck together with a plaster that a previous guest may have mguiver'd. Issues shown to owner. No action was taken or appeared likely to be taken. Response was the cleaners hadn't told her anything and when you don't live in a house you don't know about issues. Couple of random dirty plates and bowls and a vape bottle found in the kids room. Pity because the apartment is actually quite nice if a few quid was spent on the minor items and the known issue with the boiler properly sorted. Boiler was definitely the biggest issue. We had headaches from the fumes and were checking the kids during the night to make sure they hadn't been gassed. Owner very unapologetic about the boiler saying "thousands" had stayed there with no issue. So clearly no intention to sort issue.

The building and location were quaint, gardens very pretty. The bathroom could have been cleaner and the shower definitely would benefit from a deep clean. The shower also leaked and didn’t drain very well. There were cobwebs in every room. The bed wasn’t very comfortable. With a little TLC it could be perfect.The owner was friendly and very helpful.

I used Brookhall as a business venue, the facilities were very good and support from the staff was excellent. The parking onsite was very useful for all attending and location very easily accessed for delegates.

Lovely little cottage on a farm with its own chapel for weddings. Very quirky and the owner is an animal lover. Only complaint was a shortage of teaspoons, so not much to complain about. A quiet bolt hole but close enough to .explore Belfast.

Small, Dirty, Ill-equipped, we were charged an extra 35 pounds for the dogs so they could do a deep clean on the carpets! What carpets? There were beetles and spiders in the lounge, the coffee in the coffee jar left was solidified. My advice? stay elsewhere.

We stayed in the pretty little Pear Tree cottage. So cute and everything you need for a self catering stay for two. We loved the whole setting easy parking and tranquil country walks. Pauline is a gem and takes such pride in her beautiful home. She made sure we had everything we needed. The price is very reasonable and we found booking direct very straightforward. Agencies can make the experience more complicated these days! We hope to be back soon.

we became husband and wife July 2022. we viewed Brookhall a year previously to our wedding and it was the first and only venue we looked at as we both fell in love. Nothing was a problem to Rosemary and Pauline they definitely go the extra mile for there guests. 8 months on a our family and friends still talk about our wedding and the venue The Barn The Chapel Cottages and the area around is just amazing and what we wanted for our wedding. Stress free relaxed from booking right the we checked out. Totally amazing wish we could do it all over again

Cottage was very comfortable, charming and spotless. We had a fabulous stay and will defo be back.

We stayed here whilst awaiting a house build , so here a while, and it's just fabulous. Pauline ( owner ) couldn't have been kinder , and our cottage was Lodge View. It was spacious , very clean and kitted out as a home from home . The grounds are just fantastic , dogs welcomed , animals in the fields , and truly peace and tranquility . Our son and wife were also married here years ago , and we stayed in this exact cottage. So I am also qualified to talk of the wonderful small chapel here , and the barn and hall for receptions is amazing . Again , Pauline was very helpful in helping them create their perfect day To see sunrises out the back , and the light filter through trees is just a joy. You can awake to birdsong, it's lovely . You can also get Tesco delivery here too, a bonus if you are staying a bit . There's excellent free parking , and quick access to Lisburn , with all it offers , and we went away for day trips all over. All in all , we could not recommend these cottages highly enough. Thank you Pauline , for giving us such a beautiful start to our new life in Northern Ireland .
