Hotel Olimpo le Terrazze

Stura buena y acogedora. Se la recomiendo a todo el mundo para comer en abundancia.

Este es probablemente uno de los hoteles más inusuales que he visitado. Incluso llegar a eso no fue realmente explicado. El tipo que me trajo allí desde el aeropuerto de Catania simplemente dijo: "Segundo piso". No tenía idea de adónde iba y me preocupaba que una persona me estuviera siguiendo, hasta que me preguntó si acababa de llegar en inglés. Ella amablemente me mostró cómo llegar a mi hotel porque hay dos y tomar el funicular hasta el segundo piso. Si nadie me hubiera encontrado, no habría tenido idea de cómo llegar allí, y ella dijo que otros británicos habían dicho lo mismo. Lo bueno: 1. Muy limpio, en todo el hotel 2. Personal amable, especialmente Peppe 3. Gran variedad de bebidas 4. Servicio de traslado en autobús a Taormina Lo malo: 1. A pesar de pedir una cita con antelación, me la negaron la última mañana en el hotel. ¡Lo único que el joven que estaba allí estuvo dispuesto a darme fueron dos manzanas! 2. Lo mismo se aplica a un almuerzo para llevar, que debería haber recibido porque era un huésped con todo incluido 3. Paredes delgadas 4. La caja fuerte más pequeña del universo conocido. No vale la pena pagar un depósito de 30 € 5. Las camas eran muy duras e incómodas. Lo feo: 1. La cantidad de fumadores en la zona del bar. ¡Qué asco! 2. La música en el área del bar estaba demasiado alta y me mantuvo despierto. 3. A las 8 en punto, la mayor parte de la comida se habrá acabado en el restaurante. 4. No hay sombra alguna después del mediodía. A pesar de todo esto, lo pasé muy bien. Otros británicos me aconsejaron que llegara temprano a comer antes de que se acabara la comida. Siempre había mucho para elegir: sopa, pasta, risotto, diferentes platos calientes en fuentes calientes y diferentes acompañamientos. Siempre había una variedad de postres, fruta fresca, incluida la fruta del dragón local y todo el helado que quisieras. Estos variaron cada vez. Cuando llegué por primera vez, las bebidas las servían ustedes mismos y luego cambiaron a camareros/camareras. Tenías que mostrar una tarjeta cada vez que pedías una bebida, incluso agua, y cualquiera que no tuviera todo incluido tenía que pagar sus bebidas antes de irse.

Our first family holiday abroad and to Sicily. The hotel is beautifully situated on the mountains with stunning views. I was concerned about the highway you can see from the hotel but there is barely any noise. It's very quiet at night some evening entertainment but didn't see much on in the way for children. The children's club (daytime) is mainly Italian and wasn't really promoted for international families. Plenty of choice for food and lots of fresh fish to try. Gluten free options available on request but not a wide range. Sunbeds are plentiful and lucky enough to have 2 main swimming areas. Staff will remove any towels if you're not there for a while (when we were at lunch) or if they're put down too early. The main pool is very deep but the kids pool at the sister hotel was perfect. The hotel is clean and offers a relaxing stay. Some kids activities during the day by the main pool. My main concern was the cleanliness surrounding the buffet (mainly the ice creams the kids would put their fingers in and during the holiday I ended up with gastroenteritis for 3 weeks). The staff do need to be supervising more on these areas. Lady at the excursion desk was very friendly. Every time you need a clean beach towel you have to pay 10 Euros. Luckily we took our own beach towels. Also we were really disappointed we tried the sister hotel restaurant to be told it was fully booked (there were enough tables) so we didn't eat there all week. We were also not aware that the pizzeria is not included in the all inclusive package so you may find a big bill! Our room was very clean and quiet. Some long waits for the funicula and be prepared for some very pushy Italian families who do not understand a queue system. The local area is nice to explore and recommend a trip to Taormina which has amazing views. Overall the hotel is well run, friendly staff and offers a relaxing stay. Further away from the pool are some lovely quiet areas with amazing views. The gardens are well kept and being on the hillside makes for an interesting location. A trip down to the beach is about 10-15 minutes however our family were ushered off the front row which was empty to further back along the back which was quite ride and unnecessary. All the other staff were helpful at the hotel.

This hotel is up on a mountainside! ******* told me it was 0.12 miles from Letojanni train station, which is why I chose it. IT IS NOT. However, they have a private tram that takes you up to the hotel from down by the train station/highway. It would have been helpful to know about this beforehand as it's very critical info. That said, the hotel has beautiful terraces everywhere and gorgeous views of the Sicilian coastline and the surrounding mountains. The pool and the terrace bar were both quite stunning. On the other hand, this hotel is set up to try to keep you spending money at the hotel. Why would anyone come to Sicily and eat dinner at the $18 hotel buffet when there are myriad local restaurants just down the mountain? Why did I have to pay a $10 "club fee" to use the pool, and then pay another $10 to rent a pool towel? Why does the hotel guide say there's a happy hour in the terrace bar from 5-8 p.m. but then when I got there none of the bartenders had ever heard of that? Unlike most of the other hotels I stayed at in Italy, which were small and family-run, this one was huge and corporate, and accordingly it often felt impersonal and kind of greedy.

The photos really sold this place to us. However, our stay wasn't quite like that. We booked this place hoping to relax at the pool and spa but of course, this is the only hotel we stayed at that still has its amenities closed because of "covid". Anyway, without getting too political. We were disappointed that nothing was opened. Parking here is also really rough. The hotel is built on a huge hill and with sand literally everywhere, we did slide a bit. There isn't really a designated parking spot so everyone just kind of parks to the side of the building...again on the very steep hill. The breakfast was great. That's about the best thing we experienced. Oh and there is a lift. Breakfast was warm and there were lots of options which was nice. We packed some snacks for the road as well. To get to breakfast we had to take a mountain tram (forgive me I forgot the real name) but we noticed it sometimes didn't work or would get STUCK when PEOPLE WERE IN IT. Which is a bit sketch but oh well so we took the 10 million stair up to breakfast. Guess it was a good workout just glad it wasn't raining. Lastly, the room was alright. Felt a bit like a motel room. I'm sure it looks nicer when it isn't fall and gloomy through all the windows but the beds were eh and the sheets were bleh. We stayed in about 10 bnb/hotels during our trip and this didn't make the top of the list, unfortunately. We were glad we were only here for a night. You also really need a car here.

Magnifique hôtel. Avec un déco très soigné et magnifique. L’hôtel se situe non loin de Cefalu. L’endroit est calme, les chambres sont très confortables, propres et luxieuses avec un magnifique vue sur la mer. Le personnel est adorables et au petit soins. On se sens de bienvenue. On reviendra!
