"Not sure about some of these reviews, the hotel is reasonably priced as hotels go these days. I’ve just had a fabulous meal in the restaurant, reception, bar and restaurant staff have been pleasant and attentive and actually smiling unlike my stay in the Scalloway hotel the previous night. Room 209 is absolutely fine and meets my needs (these comments about “dated” rooms crack me up, people want pristine brand new for every stay now 🙄) The view from my room is lovely, the location is great and I’ll definitely be back again next time I visit Shetland."

"I came here before mobile phones, before Amazon, before internet. I fell in love with this hotel and Shetland. Jutting out into a cold sea with waves crashing on the walls it was the most exciting place in the world. We turned on the hairdryers and trouser press to keep warm..we had porridge with double cream for breakfast followed by a whisky Mac or two to keep us warm we danced and sang .. I was 27 years old and fell in love with all of it. Shetland is a magical place, the hotel is what it is, see the beauty of it if you go, authenticity is hard to find. I’m 60 now and still looking for the wonderful unspoilt places."

"Very welcoming . Clean . 1st floor room - converted into rooms . A little tight / cosy . Breakfast - healthy and nourishing. Beds comfy . Less than a 5 minute walk to the heart of the town. Parking on street - but manageable . Worth the visit Would come back again ."

"Nice 2 star rooms, small bed, no expelair in bathroom, great breakfast and ideal location but heating system is poor and our room was 26+ degrees overnight even with window open. Quite expensive. No bar facilities. Would not recommend. Staff are lovely but heat is a big issue"
