"The hotel was very nice and brand new, but its faults has steered us elsewhere next time, so I can’t give it a 5. The hotel style is an upgraded Marriott Moxy style. The quirkiness can be summed up in the unusual way the door unlocks. I can’t figure out if it’s trying to be nerdy, chic, woke, or what. At happy hour time, there was a small cheese plate with cider, but this was no residence inn. Breakfast was made to order, a bit like Hilton Garden Inns, but included in the price. They offered more than usual in the way of store bought pastries. The beds were soft, perhaps the best of our whole trip. Here’s the negatives. The indoor pool was not heated and ice cold. That kind of exercise is very important to us. The first morning, 45 minutes before breakfast ended, they ran out of sausage. The next morning we got there early and found out it was chicken sausage—I didn’t like it at all. The oatmeal was instant do it yourself, but they had some nuts and other additives. They did offer granola. And the breakfast cook was not a cheery person to begin a day with. She was just doing her job. Finally, I think the refrigerator had a small ice maker, otherwise, they did not offer an ice machine. We got what we needed from the ice bowl A very nice hotel that we won’t book next year."

"I agree with Marsha; this property is rundown and dirty. Sure it is historic with leaves rustling outside the window, but its charm is spoiled by the dirt. We had only one chair in the bedroom with no cushions. We needed to sweep our balcony before we could use it. All the woodwork is either dirty and/or peeling. There are food crumbs on the stairs."

"The Inn enjoys a great location, very convenient to Tanglewood as well as all the restaurants and shops in Lenox. We stayed in a carriage house room, which was comfortable enough and included a jacuzzi tub. We didn’t go into the main house until breakfast and regretted not checking it out the evening before as that is where all the really nice public spaces are located. Breakfast was served buffet style rather than cooked to order. The food was fine, but was nothing special. Overall, you pay for the location rather than the amenities on offer."

Gateways Inn

"Gateways has been our go-to destination for years. When we saw that Karén would be performing on August 22nd, my husband and I chose to dine at your establishment. Unfortunately, the room where Karén was playing was booked for a private event. Our question to you is why? However, Kate the hostess turned our experience around. She was very welcoming and apologetic. She arranged for us to have a special table where we could dine and enjoy Karéns play. Our advice, please book private parties accordingly."
