Here's why we gave the experience 3 stars; First of all, when we booked the hotel, neither Trip.com nor The Aster, Los Angeles, mentioned anything about the rooftop being closed on the dates we booked. On May 13 and May 14, we stayed in room 3 0 6. The hotel pictures showed and bragged about having a rooftop and plenty of pics of people there, and nowhere was revealed anywhere on their website or Trip.com that would not be available on those dates. When we reached out to Trip.com, they pretty much said that the rooftop amenities weren't listed as part of our package. Really Trip.com? You have to list the rooftop as the amenity... Got it. That was so lame a response. Everyone knows people book due to the pictures, and this was a seriously lame response from the Trip.com customer support personnel. We decided to save our opinion for this review. The Aster had nice people, but it's hard to believe the availability missing on their website is a detail they would miss. Their hotel has impeccable detail and design. One can only surmise they conveniently left out the information because people would obviously not book there and go somewhere else. I told the front receptionist this as we were checking in. She mentioned, well, it said it on *******. But we didn't book through *******, we booked through Trip.com. And those specific details were not evident. After July 1st the Government is getting stricter on transparency with hotels having to mention things so we missed this window, but we're happy to hold hotels like The Aster accountable:-) Also, on Wednesday, we checked out, and they had a fire alarm drill test that lasted about 10 minutes. They forgot to mention another minor ”inconvenience” when we booked on their website. It was at 10 am. It wasn't so bad, but to state the obvious, they left out the ability for customers to decide by not making that information transparent during the booking process. It's not like the fire department or tech people didn't schedule that in advance. 1. If you book through Trip.com, please make sure you specify, call their customer support, and get it in writing. The clickbait and pictures seem shady and sketchy and reflect a lack of credibility in the process. 2. Trip.com asked which room we wanted to be in. When we picked the room, we picked the city-view balcony. But we got put in the poolside view instead. It wasn't bad, but that was missing in the booking details that Trip.com sent to The Aster. My fiance ended up being okay with the poolside view, but it should have been in the booking details via Trip.com. So please, please make sure you watch this if you book through them and call the hotel in advance. Lastly, the decor, valet, and, in general, the service people were very nice and thoughtful. We would give them 5 stars.

My wife and I visited Catalina Island for our 28th anniversary — our first time back since before we were married in 1997. We chose the Catalina Canyon Inn specifically for the pool, jacuzzi, on-site restaurant, and shuttle service. Their website is very nice and seemed like a perfect match for the occasion. Unfortunately, very little matched what was advertised. Shuttle: The shuttle was not waiting at the Catalina Express port when we arrived on the last ferry Saturday evening which was unexpected. Four of us were left waiting in the dark for about 20 minutes until the other couple called the hotel. The driver was friendly and apologized, but this set the tone for the weekend. The shuttle was consistently unreliable throughout our stay. They tell you to call the driver directly, but he often didn't answer. You'd end up having to call the hotel instead, and the shuttle only seemed to come after someone went inside and told the front desk in person. At one point we waited 45 minutes. Some guests got frustrated and just decided to walk, but the hotel sits at the top of a steep hill — not a realistic option, especially for older guests like us. Their website suggests the shuttle runs regularly, but that was far from our experience. Restaurant: We arrived at the restaurant at 7:30 PM Saturday and were turned away, even though their website says they're open until 8:00 PM. We had to rush down the hill to find dinner to-go in town before the shuttle stopped running at 8:45. It was a shame we didn't even have time to stay and eat on our anniversary or face having to trek up that hill. The next morning I mentioned this to the restaurant owner, who insisted they closed at 8:00 and that she was there. She then told us the restaurant closes at 2:00 PM on Sundays — so dinner there that night wasn't an option either. She was very friendly though I must say. On Monday we finally had breakfast before checkout. The food was mediocre and didn't match the glowing reviews at all. The prices were also odd — $12 for mozzarella sticks, $20 for nachos, but only $11 for pulled pork sliders, which you'd expect to be the pricier item. The pricing just didn't add up. While we were there, another couple was turned away at 1:30 PM because the restaurant closes from 2–4 on Mondays. We could feel their frustration. Jacuzzi: The jacuzzi we were looking forward to was covered up and converted into a gazebo with chairs. At first we couldn't find it but yea. No mention of this on the website. Room issues: The soap dispenser in the shower was empty. The front desk told us we can mention it to housekeeping, who didn't come until after 5:00 PM. We got the soap and a couple fresh towels. The towels themselves were thin and didn't dry well overnight so fresh ones were sorely needed to get at least one shower in with soap before we had to leave the next day. The TV didn't work at all, and the microwave was unplugged — though I was able to fix that myself. The hotel also doesn't offer complimentary coffee, which is standard at most hotels we've stayed at for half the price. The good: The staff was friendly, the bed was comfortable, the A/C worked well, and the balcony was a nice touch. The room was quiet. Bottom line: The website gives a very different impression than what you actually get. Between the unreliable shuttle, limited and unpredictable restaurant hours, missing amenities, thin towels, and no coffee, this was not the anniversary experience we hoped for. I'd recommend staying somewhere closer to downtown so you're not dependent on a shuttle and stuck with limited options. I think we need to redo our anniversary. It was a miss for sure.

Recientemente tuve la oportunidad de hospedarme en el Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles LAX/Hawthorne para un viaje de negocios y debo decir que, en general, fue una experiencia bastante placentera. En primer lugar, la proximidad del hotel al Aeropuerto Internacional de Los Ángeles (LAX) es una gran ventaja. Está a solo 10 minutos en auto, lo que lo hizo increíblemente conveniente para alguien como yo que tenía que tomar un vuelo temprano por la mañana. El hotel también ofrece un servicio de transporte gratuito desde y hacia el aeropuerto, lo cual fue un buen toque. El proceso de registro fue eficiente y el personal de recepción fue cortés y acogedor. La zona del vestíbulo es limpia, moderna y está bien diseñada, lo que crea una primera impresión favorable. Me alojé en una habitación estándar y estaba limpia y bien mantenida. La cama era cómoda y aprecié las almohadas adicionales proporcionadas. La habitación tenía una vista decente y era lo suficientemente espaciosa para una persona que viaja sola. El baño también estaba limpio y equipado con las comodidades necesarias. Uno de los aspectos más destacados de mi estancia fue el restaurante del hotel, The Bistro. La comida era sorprendentemente buena y ofrecían una variedad de opciones para el desayuno y la cena. El personal del restaurante fue atento y brindó un excelente servicio. Sin embargo, los precios me parecieron un poco elevados. El gimnasio estaba bien equipado y pude mantener mi rutina de ejercicios durante mi estadía. El hotel también dispone de una pequeña piscina exterior, aunque no tuve la oportunidad de utilizarla durante mi estancia. El único inconveniente de mi experiencia fue el nivel de ruido en los pasillos y las habitaciones adyacentes. Las paredes delgadas parecían permitir que el sonido se propagara, lo que hacía un poco difícil dormir cuando había vecinos ruidosos. Además, la conexión Wi-Fi era un poco lenta a veces, lo que podía resultar frustrante si intentas trabajar. En general, el Courtyard by Marriott Los Angeles LAX/Hawthorne es una opción sólida para los viajeros que buscan comodidad cerca del aeropuerto. El amable personal, las habitaciones limpias y las excelentes opciones gastronómicas lo convierten en un lugar cómodo para alojarse. Sin embargo, las mejoras en la insonorización y la velocidad de Wi-Fi mejorarían la experiencia general.

El hotel tiene un olor extraño como a humedad, bastante peculiar quizá algún químico, nuestra habitación también pero nos la cambiaron y el olor era menor pero persistía. El desayuno muy bueno, era buffet, la piscina también estaba muy bien y el staff muy atento y cortés.

Hotel bien ubicado cerca del aeropuerto. Buenas instalaciones.

Es un hotel que está envejecido los pasillos pero las habitaciones están muy bien. Son limpias, tiene un buen desayuno y parqueo. La relación calidad/ precio es buena.

Las instalaciones estaban en perfectas condiciones. El personal de front desk muy amable. Las camas muy cómodas y todo en general fue muy bueno. Recomendado !

Hotel bastante cómodo, muy buena ubicación para lo requerido que fue una noche por una conexión larga, funciona muy bien, desayuno bastante agradable, en general un hotel acorde al precio pagado.

La habitación es agradable, limpia y sanitaria, con cortinas de privacidad, ventanas, buena ventilación, baño separado, dispositivo de descarga después del inodoro, habitación muy tranquila para descansar, desayuno buffet, puedes tostar tu propio pan, hacer hot cakes, café y agua caliente. El transporte es cómodo y también es muy conveniente comer abajo.
