Saikaew Villa 65

Perfect location. It is located right on the beach. The room was very spacious. There is a fire show that takes place next door around 8 PM so for about two hours during the evening, it is a little loud, but if you’re OK with that then no worries. My only wish is that they would provide coffee and coffee mugs in the room. Other than that if you’re OK with minimalism, then this is a fine place to stay. Plus, you might see some Hornbill.  birds!

Saikaew Villa 65 is less than a 5 minute walk from the songthiaw drop off to get to the accommodation, after the 10 minute taxi ride from Ban Phe pier. We booked 3 Superior Twin rooms for family but the rooms were definitely not 'superior'. The rooms lacked any finesse, with a broken lampshade, gaps under the doors for mozzies to get in, a broken light in the bathroom and a leaking sink pipe, dodgy fridge connection and dead batteries in the aircon remote. The room itself was clean and the service for room cleaning was good, but the surrounding area around the rooms was dilapidated, with broken down storage buildings, remnants of building works and rubbish bags and cleaning equipment on display in the walkways each day. There was a definite lack of attention to detail. It was backpacker style but not with a backpacker price tag. I booked the rooms on a balcony, with a view of the courtyard garden, but there was nowhere to sit outside the room, no chairs provided, just small tables. The location is very good, a minute or so walk away from the beach. The attached restaurant, 'Joe's', was very efficiently run and the service there was excellent (thank you to the waiting staff, who were very friendly and helpful). For 60 baht for the day, a deckchair could be rented with an umbrella right on the sea front, and the restaurant staff provided towels for the deckchairs when asked. If you plan on spending little time in your rooms, and you don't mind the outside appearance of the accommodation, then Sai Kaew 65 is a great place to base yourself for all that Sai Kaew and Koh Samed has to offer.

I booked three Standard Twin Rooms here for a four-night stay. The towels were so old that it was shocking. You can see from the photo that the bathroom was dirty—the floor had orange stains that had come off from the grout, and they didn’t clean it. The toilet was extremely dirty, as if the bathroom had never been cleaned at all. Every time I used the bathroom, water would overflow, making me feel disgusted every time I had to use it. It happened twice, to the point that I had to run to another hotel just to use the restroom. Do you understand how inconvenient and awful that is? It was truly terrible. The electrical sockets in the room were loose, so I couldn’t properly plug in any device and have it stay in place. The hairdryer provided had only one prong, and the bag it came in was filthy. I honestly don’t know how to express my disappointment because everything I expected was just the basic standard that I should have received. I wasn’t asking for anything beyond what I paid for. The only good thing about this place was that it was close to the beach, and the hotel was able to clean my room every night quickly. Other than that, I had a terrible experience here, and if I ever visit this destination again, I will definitely not stay at this hotel.

When we arrived there was no water in the room, the facilities in the room were grimy and run down. When we came back from being away all day our doors were open, not just unlocked, open. Outlets were unsafe, all the appliances were rundown, my fridge didn’t work. The towels were unclean. Left after a single night and went to another hotel down the road, which was both cheaper and better in every single way.

Location is perfect, get out of the building straight on the beach. There is a fire show every evening at 8pm. The room didn’t have toothpaste and toothbrush

There are 4 or 5 hotel building that belong to the owner. The ones that are 2 steps away from the beach are newer. The ones in the back are a bit older. And the ones that I had needed some renovations but not much. Iif you’re looking for delux 5 stars this isn’t the place. But if you’re looking for decent and very close to the beach this is very good for the price you pay. The owner of the hotel is friendly and if you ask him he will try to help. The beach is very clean and the hotel has long chairs and tables you can sit and order in front on the beach looking at the water. You can drink, eat and go for a swim and comeback to sit. That’s what makes this hotel great. As I said the beach is very clean and my 1.5 year old child had fun on the sand and a bit in the water.
