Golden Sands Hotel

Not good experience, food cold not much choice ,drinks awful. Very run down l, awful location . Says 3 star but maybe 2 star hotel left after 2 nights but booked for a week. Bathroom was very dark. Stained curtains . Very very disappointed not worth the price

This tired old hotel needs a face-lift and new chefs. We've been in AI hotels in many Greek Islands and the food is always palatable. Not here! The staff are wonderfully helpful, and the pool bar is a very pleasant place to pass the time of day..

Wafts of sewage at any given time. Rooms are clean but seriously outdated - showers are so bad you don’t even feel clean afterwards. Lots of limescale on taps, drain, and shower curtain. There is no stand for the shower head so you have to hold it the entire time you’re in there. Food is bland, boring, repetitive, and mostly beige. Breakfast is the only saving grace, and not by much. We only had 2 meals in the restaurant during our 3 night stay, and that was the first day. The rest of the time we ate out. Pool area is clean but sunbeds aren’t great, bit grimey. Spend your money elsewhere.

We assume that this hotel cannot have 3 stars. It has a nice outdoor pool with a bar attached and it's all beautiful. But inside it's really scary, dated and smelly. In the room that was given to us, the bathroom was bad, floor with brown spots, shower still with unhygienic curtain, plumbing pipes that lead who knows where and popping out. Dated toilet and sink. The room was equipped with a circuit breaker but no plastic cover. The refrigerator that gave off an absurd heat, the wooden cover of the same, was hot. We took room number 17. We had the all inclusive package, breakfast, lunch and dinner. THE ONLY SAVE THAT WAS THE BREAKFAST. I recommend training the cooks more or even firing them. Very poor food, almost everything tasted burnt and bitter. I've already been to Greece several times and the food is delicious, but in the Hotel it was really creepy. Limited buffet and with very little choice, there was nothing of fruit except watermelon slices that had no taste, of very low quality. I have never eaten so badly in a hotel. My stomach always ached and felt sick every time I approached the dining room. Reception staff who only spoke Greek and English and who doesn't speak fluent English? Do you manage? Maybe it's time to retire. Thanks to Elena who spoke a little Italian and was very kind. The cleaning of the room beyond the first day that I required extra attention since the room was dirty, the rest of the days it was superficial and they didn't always change the towels, the bed they didn't make it either they only put down the clean sheets (not all days) lean over the bed. Bad experience

Lovely hotel . Staff were very friendly and helpful. Special thank you to the barman Costas always had a smile and time for a chat. Great local knowledge even suggested some places to visit as we had a car . Food was nice. However could have been warm or hot . Most nights the food was cold. Rooms were basic but very clean . They were cleaned everyday. You get what you pay for was a cheap last minute getaway . We had no problems and would return again

Went to Golden Sands Hotel in Corfu in August 2022. Quick walk to the beach and staff were lovely and helpful - special thanks to the bartenders for making our time there so enjoyable! Possibly more of a family hotel than a friends holiday as its not near to many bars/clubs but we were okay to stay in the hotel!

We had a very good time at our one week stay at Golden Sands Hotel . The hotel is not overcrowded and there are lot of space at the swimming pool area. Good size swimming pool is definitely a pros. Food was ok, room- ok for 3 star hotel at this price, but we didn’t spend much time in there either. Our big thanks goes to reception staff, kitchen and especially 2 bar members- for enthusiastic attitude, good sense of humour and first of all for playing decent music. The location of the hotel is good - walking distance to the beach and local restaurants and bars which are open till very late.

Just got back 27.7.22 from 4 nights all inclusive. Overall a lovely small clean friendly hotel in a remote area with very little to do outside the hotel. The room is basic and clean with a little balcony. Food was very limited choice always managed to have something for each meal although it was sometimes cold even going in soon as it opens. Snacks were a choice of 4 pasties each day and ice cream was only for lunch and dinner. Bar 10am til 10 pm for all inclusive never opened til nearly 10.30 and finished dead on 10. Choice of drinks was spot on lots of cocktails to choose from and never a weak drink, friendly bar staff who played choice of music throughout. No night time entertainment. Pool opens at 10 am which we found unusual. Barley any English there. We did enjoy our 4 nights quiet, child free get away would of been disappointed if we had come for longer and/or with our children.

Let's just focus on facts here leaving all the feelings behind. PROs: -Price (but meh, more on that later) -Staff - they are really trying to do their best and help you. Kudos in such an environment. -Beach - clean, sandy, warm water, ideal for kids. Two sunbeds and an umbrella will cost you 6EUR/day, or you buy your own umbrella. Only consider the 700m walk to the beach. CONs -Food is terrible. Yes, it's all-Inclusive, but the food is being recycled and the variety is really poor. Some meals inedible. We ate in near-by tavernas and restaurants the last 3 days of our 7day trip. This was no traditional greek cuisine and everything has a weird plastic-oily aftertaste. -All-Inclusive - regardless of the above mentioned, you are really getting all the drinks in one pool bar from 10AM to 10PM. But the bar doesn't have enough re-usable plastic cups, so they are then offering you one-off plastic cups with a smaller volume. Also Ice-Cream is at the pool bar - but available for kids only. This just doesn't make any sense at all. Beer was very light (but OK for summer) and coffee was all done in one machine except of the frappe, which was weird as well. -Rooms stuck in the 80s with a very odd smell and a "friendly" rooster to remind you it's 2:45AM! (I'm not only one annoyed by the rooster, really...). But hey, the AC works! :) -Beds. Were. Stone-hard. These were old spring matrasses, while the springs got regularly stuck in my ribs during the night.... -Bathroom - Old and worn-out. But the staff did their best to keep it clean. -Animation for the guests. The so-called "greek night" was just another YT playlist being played from the speakers. Conclusion: If you are considering this hotel from the budget perspective, than don't. In case you don't have metal guts, you'll end up buying the supplies in the near-by supermarket and dining in the tavernas which will ruin your budget perspective at the end of the day....
