"This is a very out of the way location, an oasis in an otherwise very crowded area, a real escape from the hustle and bustle, it is difficult to get to but well worth the effort. The accommodation was excellent, large, expansive, modern and comfortable with a view onto some pasture and native vegetation, the bird life and other fauna were very entertaining. There was an amazing display of fire flies in a tree right out side the balcony one evening which was just magic!!! The pool was very clean, and great for a swim each morning. There was a gym and billiard table as well. The gated community was very safe and private, with wide spaces and plenty of room around the free standing units. Operating more like an AirBnB, there was no 'front desk', but the onsite support was amazing, only a phone call away, delivering breakfast with such care and attention, I felt like a queen. Super friendly and helpful. Loved this place!"

The hotel is located near Kandy, and local traditional entertainment is provided on some nights. The surrounding grounds are well maintained."

Hay muchos hoteles en la montaña en Kandy y la carretera es tan pequeña que el conductor condujo en la dirección equivocada varias veces durante la noche y finalmente llegó allí. Los dulces de bienvenida en la puerta no olían muy bien porque llegamos demasiado tarde y los niños estaban cansados, por lo que no prestamos mucha atención a la habitación. "La ubicación del hotel no es remota y es fácil de encontrar, pero aún así está a unos minutos en coche del lago Kandy. Hay un supermercado grande a pocos minutos a pie, lo cual es conveniente. Quienes busquen vistas al lago deberían considerar este hotel con detenimiento. Sin embargo, los hoteles a orillas del lago suelen ser ruidosos y concurridos por la noche, mientras que este hotel es relativamente tranquilo. En cuanto a la habitación, aunque es grande, como se ve en las fotos, el espacio está desaprovechado, es muy espacioso y carece de buen gusto en el diseño. Las instalaciones también son bastante antiguas y la limpieza es regular. La piscina infinita del hotel es bastante singular, con vistas a las verdes montañas y los campos de cultivo, pero no pudimos disfrutarla debido al clima fresco. El desayuno fue normal; no recuerdo mucho al respecto."

"Vinimos por nuestra luna de miel y la experiencia ha sido 10/10. Un hotel super tranquilo, solo hay 9 habitaciones y al ser una antigua propiedad está decorado con un gusto de hotel boutique impecable. Un lugar perfecto para descansar por la paz que transmite y por el personal que no puede ser más amable, siempre pendiente de que estés a gusto. Y se me olvidaba, en el hotel que mejor comimos de Sri Lanka, un gran chef. Sin duda volveremos!"

"This was my second visit to The Elephant Stables - and it was amazing! This beautiful and inviting small boutique hotel is incredibly hospitable. The hotel is designed to make you feel at home and pampered. Everyone there works together to ensure that you have an absolutely amazing time. Our group explored Kandy during the morning and returned in the afternoon for a much-needed swim. Nihal, the delightful barman, brought us refreshing cocktails poolside to help us cool down. While we were there, we had the most amazing breakfasts and dinners made by Indika, the master chef, and his team. All 6 of us agreed - the meals we had here were hands down, the best meals we had in Sri Lanka!"

"Absolutely beautiful place, approx 14km from Kandy. A beautiful villa, in 9 acres of beautiful, hillside garden. A well maintained infinity pool just caps it off. The homecooked food is absolutely delicious - the Sri Lankan dishes and the feta salad are a must. What caps this place off is the staff - kind, helpful and attentive; just really nice people. They helped me when my driver couldn't access the usual road due to a landslide."

"I couldn't talk for a few seconds the first time I saw the views from our balcony..Please judge it for yourself from the pictures as words cannot do it justice..The manicured golf course, reservoir, rolling mountains, even at night in the twilight the scenery is magical.. Rasika at the restaurant helped us navigate the menu and was extremely friendly..The breakfast was stellar, it was a set menu the first day & a buffet the next day..Both sri lankan and continental offerings..The a la carte was however a hit & miss, the fish from the fish & chips was supremely tough and chewy, and the same goes for the chicken skewer of the nasi goreng..However the chips and rice were great.. We rented bicycles and explored the course, which was quite a scenic work out..We even swung 50 odd balls at the practice range with a very kind caddie to guide us as it was our first time around golfing.. There were many more activities on offer like hiking or horse riding..We were on a week long lankan tour and this was by far the most active & novel stay of our trip..We had planned to leave in the morning to explore the Kandy city but the property was so exquisite that we stayed well post afternoon after cycling & golfing practice and then proceeded to the city center later in the day. The staff were supremely professional, well spoken, happy to help & guide whenever needed. Yes the property is a 45 min drive from the Kandy city center but it was not only worth it but well beyond all expectations we had. Special thanks to Diloshan & his colleague at the front office who handled our check in."

"El hotel no merece puntos completos, pero me obligó a dejar un comentario 5/5 en Tripadvisor el día que me equivoqué, que había eliminado desde entonces. Aunque entiendo que el turismo es una gran cosa para Sri Lanka, no es la manera de hacer negocios y no es justo si los viajeros se malinforman. Si, el hotel está perchado en una colina y es adecuado para usted si prefiere la paz y la tranquilidad después de un día en la ciudad, pero las estancias prolongadas pueden resultar problemáticas debido a la ventilación, estrechos caminos de montaña. Hay una piscina infinita con vistas a la naturaleza, pero se recomiendan los pantalones de baño porque el cuarto de baño está lejos de la piscina. La habitación también era agradable y cómoda, salvo que el aire conocido estalló directamente en la cama, a pesar de ajustar la velocidad del camión y del ventilador."

"Slow & poor service Chef rejected our breakfast @7 am Room arrangement was bad Calls never answered Quantity of food is good We were in half board basis as a honeymoon couple.we request our breakfast @ 7 am but chef rejected it and they informed us that they start their shift at 7 am and unable to prepare our breakfast to the requested time THE Manager was not in the property and we had to struggle a lot to arrange our needs The waiter had no idea what to do in this kind of small circumstances Calls were never been answered The hotel owner should be exra cautious regarding the guests needs and wants Most importantly the manager does not know how to manage the staff and the maintenance of the property We as hoteliers never recommend this hotel to anyone Never recommend this hotel to anyone Owner please contact us"

"I was very upset my stay had to be pulled out after 2 days for only reason that the accommodation was not safe to reach from kany or outside , firstly the road was steep and the tuk tuk abd small cars struggled to climb safely, the route which Google directed was not straight forward, we almost got killed in a tuk tuk way up and thus scared us abd we pulled off, never safe to go late night after 6pm. The food abd the views were amazing no questions about the service etc but thus all overrules from safety aspect, the accommodation should clearly mention that in there advertisement saying its only suitable for ppl who like adventures and take risk hiking, not advisable for stays for family with young children or old ppl. There was a couple from Oz befire us they got terrified and canceled the stay and complained and left immediately but the manager would not appreciate how dangerous and terrifying it would be for ppl reaching the place remotely. I wouldn't advise this place purely because of safety accesing it. I will attach some pictures to give you more understanding. I had to report to trip. Com to get back my booking charges and book an other safe hotel. This ended up disaster but I'm glad I retired back on one peice. The only access road to this property is extremely steep and currently affected by damage from flooding. Even local drivers have advised that it is unsafe to use. This creates a serious risk of being stranded or injured and makes it unsafe to continue staying at this property. The hotel’s refusal does not override Trip.com’s duty of care to guests. Continuing to house guests where access is affected by landslides and flooding is unsafe. Please escalate this as a safety and misrepresentation case immediately . This situation constitutes a material misrepresentation of the accommodation. Trip.com’s platform standards require accurate property descriptions and reasonable usability. The unsafe access road was not disclosed at the time of booking, despite being a known and ongoing issue, as evidenced by a public review dated 26 January 2026 confirming that another couple also left early for the same reason. As the property cannot be safely accessed, the accommodation is unfit for purpose and cannot be used as booked. Under Trip.com’s service standards and applicable consumer protection principles, this warrants an immediate full refund."
