It is close to shopping, waterfalls, boating, fishing, hiking and kayaking. You can fish and bring your catch home to cook on either the gas or charcoal grill! In the mornings you can relax and enjoy your coffee on the back porch or the deck overlooking the natural backyard. You might even see a deer or two go through the property! In the afternoon/evening, you can relax by the secluded fire pit with a view of the Calfkiller River.The house boasts 2 inviting bedrooms, each is adorned with cozy furnishings. The Sparta House is located in downtown Sparta but with almost an acre right on the Calfkiller River, you'd never know it! It's the best of both worlds. Walk to great coffee shops and pottery studios or fish from the back yard or bird watch from the sun room. There are many amazing waterfalls and superior hiking spots all within a 15 minute drive. Fall Creek Falls, Virgin Falls, Burgess Falls, Rock Island, Sunset Rock, Lost Creek Falls and Cummins Falls are all just a short drive away.The spaceThere are 3 bedrooms all on a one level home right on the Calfkiller River. The sun room looking over the river is the absolute best place for bird watching and has a perfect table to play games. The large kitchen has everything you could possibly need for a big family dinner. The 2 rocking chairs on the porch are great to listen to the water flow over the dam. We also now have a beautiful screened in porch to watch the river.Other fun things in the area - less than 3 miles to Calfkiller Brewery, walking distance to Happy Trails Brewery, a few miles to Sparta Drive in Movie Theater, Caney River is a short drive away for canoeing. We always end up spending most of our time fishing, playing in the river, birdwatching and playing Rummikub!We provide all the linens you will need. We are flexible with check in and check out times if we are able. Just ask. There is a gas grill available for your use. Strong Wifi. 2 TV's - one in the living room and one in the basement - access to Netflix, Hulu, Sling, etc. Coffee is provided (by the pot or Pods). Please use caution and wear a life jacket when swimming. DO NOT swim or boat at the base of the low head dam. You can put a kayak in from the backyard (Use the end away from the dam) but know that there are rocks you'll have to maneuver down to the water. There are several ramps into the water all within a couple of blocks. Nestled in the country on 6 acres in White County, Shady Creek is located between Sparta and Cookeville, TN. Enjoy the creek from the back deck or enjoy the sounds of our 2 waterfalls from the front porch. You can also enjoy all the wildlife that wander the property or start up the fire pit where you can relax with friends. Drive to town and see a movie at the Sparta Drive-In. (Open Fri and Sat nights)The space: Our home is a two bedroom home and two baths. There is also a pull out sofa in the living room with linens and blankets in the closets. There is a fully stocked kitchen with a crockpot included. Full size washer and dryer. A deck runs along the entire back of the home which overlooks Cherry Creek. There is a charcoal grill. We also have a fire pit (wood is located in the shed) and covered parking area for two but plenty of other places to park as well. If you follow the path down past the old chicken coop to the right of the house, you will be able to enjoy our small waterfalls.All TV's are streaming where you can log into your accounts to enjoy several different apps or download your own. There are many free apps on the TV's that don't require you to sign in.One thing to know about our location: There is no cell service at the house unless you turn on wifi calling, connect to our wifi and you will be able to make calls and send texts with no problem. To do this, on your phone go to Settings>Phone Settings or Call Settings> Click on Wifi Calling.There are cows adjacent to our property with an electric fence. Please do not touch the fence. Both bathroom sink faucet handles are opposite...hot is on the right and cold is on the left.Guest access: Our property is outside the city limits. You don't have any neighbors. There is a gate to our property but it will be opened. Self check-in with keypad. We have a ring camera at the front door that will be snoozed upon check in. Any tampering with the Ring camera is not allowed.If there is anything that you need during your stay, we are right up the road.Other things to know: There is an abundance of places surrounding us where you can hike, bike, cave, kayak, fish and golf. Several state parks all all around us (listed below) as well as Center Hill Lake (14 miles), Dale Hollow Lake (56.5 miles), Percy Priest Lake (85.2 miles) Lake Chickamauga (76.6 miles), Cordell Hull Lake (54.5 miles) and Fort Loudon Lake (80.9 miles). You can also explore Cumberland Caverns which is just a thirty minute drive to McMinnville.OUTDOORS: We are surrounded by state parks!
