Hotel in main house much nicer than the garden rooms, only went to reception then upto the room, receptionist very welcoming. Not much else there no Gym etc. Overal good to stop in

My friend and I stayed after attending an event there. It's is a lovely hotel with great surroundings, very attentive staff, and good food. The beds were a little too soft for our liking, and consequently we didn't'have a good nights sleep. But overall we enjoyed our stay, and would recommend the hotel.

This is a beautiful property of historic significance (the home of WS Gilbert of Gilbert and Sullivan) and I have stayed here many times during the past 25 years. For the price, it is perfect. Free parking, comfortable rooms, and a magnificent property. The Garden lodge could do with a little updating but it is full of British charm. It seems to be well run and I always love staying here.

All soft furnishing need up dating. Furniture tired.
Bath stained and shabby.
Staff extremely helpful and cheery. The waitress serving breakfast was excellent but could have done with some help as she was run off her feet but so polite. The room was basic but clean.
It was a convenient stay for us.

This hotel is in a fantastic setting and we booked this as it was my partner 50 th birthday, all was well until we went to our room soon as we opened the door the smell of someone smoking in the room was horrendous and seeing we were both not smokers this was not exceptional.
I went to reception they would have moved us but had no rooms available but offered to spray the room when we went for our evening meal , it masked it for that evening but the next day it was back as before , even our clothes and towels had the smell of smoke.
I don’t know why the room cleaners did not report this ??? It’s the worst of any hotel I have ever been to and I use hundreds of them during the year due to working away .
So be careful when choosing this hotel

Good food. Pleasant staff. Rooms a bit tired. Persistent playing of 1950-60s music in public rooms! Parking spaces unusually narrow. Too so for cars that need a wide space.

I had to find a hotel very last minute and this was it, excellent location, loads of parking, very comfy beds and very clean.
The shower head was a bit of a let down, had to access my room via some metal spiral stairs which came to a fire exit hatch and you have to ninja on to the stairs because there was a “function ongoing” and the decor are not modern however in London it’s a absolute bargain for what you get, and I had a very good sleep on the top floor.
