My original plan of a 1-night stay turned into 3 nights purely based on the property and the team. The rooms are spacious and well appointed, with clean linen and towels. The wooden floors are a nice look and feel. The air-conditioning works very well. An unbelievable amount of space for work / lounging. The room itself has a work desk which is perfect for remote work. The balcony is small but functional, and overlooks the majestic Tissa Lake. Spacious terraces on the 1st and 2nd levels as well as a rooftop with spectacular views of the surrounding fields and the lake. I got plenty of work done and attended web-based meetings in peace, against an amazing backdrop. At the end of the day it is the people that make a difference, and this is where Yasith and his team were exemplary. From his kind, attentive service to the care he displays to guests and the property (and of course by the way he treats Kalu, the adorable orphaned puppy), Yasith leads from the front. I noted among other things his meticulous bookkeeping skills, which is a rare find for any property. Suffice to say I have found my stay whenever I return to Tissa. What better place for a morning/evening stroll than the bank of Tissa lake. For any reasonable person willing to stay at a 3-star hotel and not expect 5-star amenities, Serene Park Hotel by Ark has all the right things in place. Full disclosure, I did not have any meals at the premises; as I am very familiar with Tissa I enjoy the many local options available nearby.

Un lugar hermoso con un agradable jardín tranquilo, comida y bebidas agradables (consejero: el crocodilo tropical) y un personal amable que nos arregló un safari maravilloso. La piscina grande está separada en un pequeño paraíso al otro lado de la carretera (a menos de medio minuto de caminar). Las habitaciones son agradables y aire acondicionado. Consejo: elegir safari en el bloque Yala 5. Fuimos uno de sólo siete jeeps ese día, y vimos todo lo que queríamos. Detalles, pero la habitación puede vestirse un poco más bonito y inteligente: mesa junto a la cama sería agradable, las lámparas son feroz pero con los parabrisas cerrada la habitación sin ventanas es muy oscuro.

Este hotel está reservado para ir a cazar el día siguiente. El estilo de decoración del hotel es bueno, parece maravilloso, pero en la habitación es más general, las instalaciones son muy viejas, no se puede salir después de lavar el aire, la habitación entera es muy húmeda (la especie que se ve cayendo en la pared), hay gatos que se desnudan cuando se comen en el restaurante, en realidad se sienten muy bien junto a la mesa, pero los servicios a veces se van a expulsar a los gatos y se están haciendo muy mal. El día siguiente, debido a que la caza comenzó a las cinco, el desayuno que el hotel nos empacó también fue relativamente sencillo (muy poco valioso, se sugiere no reservar el desayuno). En general, el precio es muy bajo, es el nivel de hotel de rápidos más malo en el país. Reservé un mes antes, como si fuera más de 600, Después de quedarse, el precio fue de 300 en ese día.

This is a nice hotel, the rooms are very good, there is a lovely pool and the staff were lovely but for a 4* hotel we did feel let down on several occasions. We are reasonably seasoned travellers and know about the things that can happen in Sri Lanka which we are visiting for the third time. One of the main things that went wrong was the transport that the hotel arranged for us from Ella, I had clearly specified in writing that we wanted a vehicle big enough for 4 adults + 4 suitcases + 4 hang baggage when booking several months before. I followed this up, again in writing, a couple of days before our journey with the same information and was assured all was OK. The car that did turn up was way too small, resulting in a wasted journey for the poor guy that had driven for 2.5 hrs to get to us. The manager put the blame on another company for messing up but I think that he should have made sure that the vehicle we were getting was adequate. To his credit the situation was put right but this shouldn’t have happened in the first place. As I’ve said, the hotel itself is very nice indeed. The staff are really lovely but many didn’t speak any English so communication was very difficult when ordering, eg we just avoided having kottu (a Sri Lankan meal) bought to us when all we wanted was a coke. I can understand this is in a one or two star place but for somewhere that portends to be a cut above then I think that the customer can expect to be able to communicate. It was the same with most of the reception staff, some basic training would I think go a long way. Food was ok but I had to send a meal back because the fish I’d ordered was overcooked to the point that it was charred and brittle. The internet was lamentably slow and was frequently non existent. This should not be a problem even in Sri Lanka as we had good connections for the other 6 or so places we stayed of lesser rating. We only had hot water for 1 out of the three nights we stayed, when we mentioned it, it was fixed so probably just someone didn’t turn the water heaters on. Again, we’ve travelled around a bit and stayed in basic hotels and know that things may not materialise as you wish, but when one does decide to splurge a certain standard is expected. We were asked at checkout if our stay was up to standard and we told the person on reception about what had happened, he was obviously senior and spoke reasonable English. To his credit he was very apologetic and we were given some money off our food and drinks bill however we would have much preferred that the hotel lived up to its star rating. With a few tweaks this could be an excellent hotel, so up to the management really to do their bit!

Amazing location. In the middle of a forest and just beside the sea. Booked Jungle Chalet and the room was big and good. Found a spider in the room which was scary but I think OK for a place situated in the middle of jungle. Saw wild boars running around our room, crocodiles in the lake near hotel entrance and small animals and peacocks. Other than Yala Safari there is nothing much to do in the hotel other than swimming in the pool. Had full board and the dining experience was good. Bar service is also good.

Loved the design of this resort which replicates the leopard's paw. The design of the room had a fuse of colonial expedition chic with classic Sri Lankan design. Alongside the location indeed stunning Wild Coast Tented Lodge a fabulous hideaway Perched at the southern tip of Sri Lanka, in the heart of Yala National Park, Wild Coast, it’s a place where the ocean meets the jungle and accommodation meets relaxation.

Wonderful in every way. The location is amazing, the beach and pool are beautiful, the food is good and because they do not have the mandatory buffet like all the other hotels and resort seem to offer, you can actually order what you want and even save money. Like the other reviews mention, this hotel is a real gem - you'll spend a little more than you might for some other hotels in this area, but you will not be disappointed in the rooms, the wonderful staff, the cleanliness, the pool, etc. We'd love to come back and have recommended this place as a must-stay for people traveling around Sri Lanka.

La playa del hotel es demasiado ondulada para nadar y solo puede tomar el sol. Pero no muy lejos, hay otra playa pública a más de 100 metros, donde se puede nadar. Hay muchas opciones para el desayuno y la cena buffet, y el sabor es bueno. Por supuesto, hay errores ocasionales, como la paleta de res a la parrilla demasiado cruda. Hay muy pocas cosas para que los niños se entretengan. Hay una sala de juegos donde se puede dibujar, ver televisión, jugar, etc., pero el mantenimiento no es muy bueno. El servicio es bueno en general. Sin embargo, hay más ingredientes para el espectáculo y algunos detalles necesitan atención. En general, la relación precio / rendimiento es promedio y debe hacerse.
