Stayed for five nights with family over new year. The hotel deserves all the plaudits from other reviews. The hotel is well placed in the centre of the village only a 10 minute walk to the ski lifts but also a five minute shuttle ride which run regularly too. The Inter sport ski shop is adjacent and accessible directly The rooms are very attractively set out and a small Christmas tree in each room was unexpected. the spa is lovely with a big pool and more saunas and steam rooms than I can imagine you might need to use. The service throughout the hotel is friendly and caring and efficient. It is a strong team. The food across the various restaurants is excellent.. the nightly tasting menu is sometimes a bit unexpected for the odd course.. I have never eaten so much celeriac.. but there is always the option to swap dishes in and out. Saas itself is not the largest ski area, not very sunny at this time of year, but the flip side is that the glacier and north facing slopes have good snow conditions. The lift system itself is also heavy on t bars and cable cars.. less good for those who like a sit down between runs. So not fully in love with the saas ski offer to be honest, but very in love with the hotel, which is brilliant.

No nos quedaríamos aquí otra vez. Los años 1980 revisado ... Pros: Gran habitación, grandes montañas de vista (no el Matterhorn), cerca de la estación de tren, gran balcón, estacionamiento bajo el hotel. Nice baño de tamaño. Desayuno satisfactorio. Un buen punto de partida para un viaje a Zermatt, si no vas a quedarte en Zermatt. Hay algunos grandes caminos de caminar cerca de este hotel. Cons: Ugly ...branco ...shag ...carpeting. Muebles naranjas. Lenguas de vestir, matraces y cucharas. El barrio de la habitación era muy agradable. Si estás conduciendo y va a un viaje rápido a Zermatt, recomendo estacionar tu coche en Tasch y dejar tu gran equipaje en el camión. A continuación, toma el tren de vuelta a Tasch para recuperar su coche.

Excelente valor y buena opción en lugar de pagar precios altos en Zermatt 15 minutos. A lo largo de la carretera de la estación de tren y el transbordador Zermatt. Buen tamaño habitación con TV, balcón, cocina, té, café. Nice baño. Buffet breakfast with hot and cold options. Restaurant has many choices and big services. Lovely staff. Hope to stay again.

The good news: It’s well located, right in the center of town where you arrive whether by Haute Route trail or by train. The completely automated check in process went smoothly (though it would’ve been nice to have someone to resolve the problem I describe below.) The room was clean and handsome. Breakfast was solid - including good coffee. Now, the bad news: Room 104 has no ventilation. The only air vent is the fan in the bathroom. The single “window” is actually a glass door, sitting right at street level of the heavily used pedestrian walkway behind the hotel - so getting air into the room means also welcoming anyone why might be passing by to come on in. I don’t like leaving negative reviews - but this is a serious design flaw that shifted what would’ve been a lovely stay into a miserable night. I imagine other rooms aren’t set like this, so your odds are pretty good if having a better experience than I did- but if you land with 104, your night is recked and their is no one to turn to for help.

What a pleasant surprise. We stumbled upon the Baxter Hotel when we missed a connection to Zurich and need a place to stay late at night. When we got to the front door Rachel greeted us as she was closing for the evening. She was so helpful trying to find us alternatives to get to Zurich. We ended up staying over night. She was simply amazing, bending over backwards to help us. The hotel is simple but nice, cute rooms and very comfortable beds. We all would love to come back and see Visp and see what the town has to offer and visit our lifesaver Rachel at the Baxter again. Nice place great people and right across of the train station. Highly recommend. You can’t go wrong.
