We booked a Junior Suite directly through the hotel so that they had the revenue. When we went to check out we tried to confirm if room 44 was in fact a Junior Suite and also why the restaurant that we had looked forward to eating in on the Weds (was closed on the other two nights that we stayed) was closed without notice. Eventually, after two phone calls from the receptionist, the owner finally came to meet us to discuss. She was the same person who, having had difficulty parking in the hotel parking the previous evening while I was getting something out of the car demanded aggressively to know if we were staying in the hotel and then demanded to know what room number without introducing herself (despite that ours was the only car displaying the hotel's sign in the dashboard). She clearly was not interested in the feedback that we gave regarding surprise that our room looks nothing like any of those that are displayed on the website as Junior Suites nor that the 'sink' and bathroom facilities are poor. No mirror in front of you in the bathroom and lighting so dim it could be a nightclub. Definitely need to hoover under the beds! We explained how disappointed we were that the restaurant was closed on the Wednesday when we'd been told it was open as we had specifically come because of the newly awarded Michelin star and had hoped to eat there all three nights. She then became aggressive saying sarcastically that we had only mentioned all this when it was time to pay the bill. Yes, that is correct, that is the time to sum up the experience to the management. She as the owner is not interested at all in the feedback and apparently she is particularly 'proud' of the decor in that room, I think she perhaps designed it herself rather than using a professional. The staff are very pleasant but the whole experience was very disappointing. There is no point in staying in the hotel which offers a Michelin star restaurant if it is closed for two of the nights and then on the night that we had said we would dine there, closed without notice because of no bookings! The owner was insulting, did not care at all and offered no apology whatsoever.
