King Charles Hotel
"This is an excellent hotel, with good facilities, lovely central courtyard, plenty of free parking, and very friendly staff. With Chatham and the Dockyard nearby, the location is excellent. Not certain which category to put this hotel in! It's not luxury but better than budget. The rooms are a little dated and the TVs need upgrading. The shower, again, a little dated. We booked a room for three as our adult son has learning disabilities. He was delighted to find he had a separate bedroom with his own, small TV. The rooms were clean, the hotel tidy, and a very good breakfast was included in the price. Overall, good value for money."
Nikoda Lodge
"When in Gillingham, (Kent) why stay in the usual Hotel 'Box' when there are options like the Nikoda Lodge in Gillingham, Kent, England . A pretty little guest house right across from a park, with a nicely renovated bathroom -to a high hotel standard. The owners are great, and are there for anything you need. (If not on site, remotely able to assist you through the webcam.) -This would be a fantastic option for those with longer stays, (work crews etc.) with a huge kitchen, and everything you need to have home cooked meals while on the road. As a matter of fact, 3 different sets of people can cook their meals at the same time! - It has a 7 burner stove with 3 ovens and a warming oven. Also with the usual kettle etc. there was a 4 slice toaster, a blender, an air fryer and cupboards and a shelf for each unit. I was super impressed. -For the smokers like me, there are two ground floor rooms that have outside doors right off the rooms leading out to the covered smoking area for our convenience. -I would Defiantly stay here again!"
Premier Inn Gillingham Business Park
"Ideally situated for our onward journey. Will stay in the future, clean, quiet and comfortable with parking."
Premier Inn Chatham/Gillingham (Vic Pier)
"Arriving around 2.30pm, as a lone elderly woman traveller, I was made to wait till the computerised check in, as I sat and watched the receptionist check in all the male guests. When it was 3pm I was marched over to the computerised check in and was checked in by a receptionist, my room number printed out for everyone to see. Despite asking for quiet rooms (my son was staying in another room), I was given a room overlooking the busy road on the first floor, right next to a fire door that was opening and closing during the night! Thankfully I had brought some ear plugs, so did manage a couple of hours sleep. The room stank of wet sweaty socks with a hint of stale tobacco, the bathroom corners were collecting specimens for the next scientific biology experiment for the university I think. At breakfast we were "greeted" with a girl chewing gum, who took our room numbers, said "sit where you want" and then said we have no pancakes or muffins left, she also failed to say there isn't enough croissants or pain ou chocolat for all of you either, but you can have the last 3 bananas... There was still 45 minutes left till the end of breakfast service, not sure what the later breakfast arrivals had, hopefully they weren't too hungry! The hot breakfast option was genuinely nice and well cooked, well done breakfast chef! This hotel is genuinely only 2 star at the absolute most, the staff do not give a toss about service, a day at work is more like a friendly get together for them in the corner of the bar. As a past hotel general manager who had worked my way up from being junior front of house, I would sack the lot of them except the breakfast chef."
