Cottages at Kinross

We chose this hotel because we expected to enjoy its winery/food. Otherwise, we should have stayed in Queenstown with a lot of restaurants and pubs. As we would arrive in the early evening, we put a note for our hope for experiencing their winery and food (or at least finger foods) when we booked the hotel, and received email that they cannot guarantee but will do their best to serve our need. Since then, no email was sent to us. When we arrived at the hotel around 6 pm, no one was in the information desk, so we had to go to the bistro to find out that they left the key in a safe box without any notice or sending us any email with its password. We had to wait a while for the bistro lady to make a phone call to whom it concerns, which was okay. Worse, we heard that their bistro was reserved for a group event so we could not use the facility at all. We had to drive 15 minutes to a nearby town and bought foods from a supermarket. I think the hotel should have notified us of impossibility of using their bistro/food service due to the group event and we have to prepare for our food. As I checked out, I left a note about the issues, and expected they would send me an email to express their sincere apology. Unfortunately nothing happened so far. Although I liked the room as well as the whole place very much, I think Kinross cottage needs professionalism to run their stay program. It could have been much nicer, memorable stay experience.

Beautiful winery and large rooms and bathrooms. Cozy beds and wonderful shower. Such a pretty romantic setting. Loved all the rabbits and ducks on the grounds too. The wine tasting was fun and delicious and included in our stay. We ordered 4 different fire roasted pizzas. The pear and blue cheese pizza was out of this world. The grounds were so well kept, there were swings for couples, lawn games and a sandy area with digging toys for little kids to play with. The live music in the afternoon/dinner time that was lovely. I highly recommend staying here. We chose Kinross to break up the drive from Milford sound to Mt. Cook and it was perfect! The staff was friendly and attentive.

My partner and I stayed at Kinross for our anniversary and we felt like special guests! The facilities were great, bed was so comfy, and cottages had everything you could need. The breakfast hamper was a lovely treat, as was being able to use the hot tub, worth booking for that alone! I was in contact with Katie prior to arrival who was friendly and had great communication. We were served by Woody in the wine garden who provided us with an enjoyable time there too, my partner and him became 'good mates'. The wine tasting for in-house guests was informative and nice to meet others also staying the night. Takeaway pizzas were delicious! Being able to explore the grounds after they were closed to the public was a huge perk. Overall, we had a relaxing stay and a great time, we will definitely be booking again! :)

Location is stunning, rooms are amazingly private, comfortable and breakfast is a nice touch. We enjoyed our stay, food, drinks, wine tasting and your hospitality. Gibbston Valley has amazing activities for everyone. We are definitely coming back to stay again. 11 out of 10!!!!

We spent one night at the Kinross Winery Cottage. The place is wonderful, all staff extraordinarily friendly and helpful. The cottage is spacious and spotless clean. We also enjoyed the dinner and the breakfast hamper. Highly recommended!

Stayed 2 nights, loved the cottage such a beautiful setting, so peaceful. Forgot to gather all belongings from the bathroom, Abbey was great to deal with, no problem posting back to me. Lovely staff and surroundings. Cycle trails are some of the best we have ridden.
