Dimora Palanca

Dimora Palanca is a treasure!! This is one of the loveliest hotels we have ever stayed in on our world travels. It felt a tad risky seeing as at the time I booked there were hardly any reviews, but wow did it pay off going with my gut. First of all, it's an absolutely gorgeous hotel, but it feels more like you're staying in someone's luxurious home. The rooms are stunning yet so comfortable. But just as equally important and the reason our stay was so perfect was the staff. A huge shout-out to Stephania and Samuel. Stephania was at the front desk almost our entire visit and she is incredible. She made us feel so welcome and comfortable and ALWAYS went out of her way to see to anything and everything we needed. She made us feel like it was her home (in the best and most professional way!!) and that she wanted to make sure we were happy and taken care of at all times. Samuel was also wonderful, he was in the restaurant/breakfast room and always greeted us with such warmth and kindness, and like Stephania, made us feel so welcome and at home. Pro's: - Bed is comfortable and has the most incredible linen sheets, it was heavenly - We had a gorgeous room overlooking the back courtyard and so wonderful to have the windows open, the weather was so lovely. There's a bit of traffic noise from the street, but once the windows are shut you hear NOTHING. Con's: - I hate to put anything here, but I will say, I do wish there had been space for toiletries and such in the bathroom, there's only one tiny one next to the sink, it would have been so nice to have had more shelves in there to put things. I had to store a lot of my bathroom items in the closet across from the bathroom, which isn't ideal.

The Westin Excelsior, Florence

Dear Marriott customers, My wife and I were traveling on vacation. We arrived at the AC Hotel by Marriott in Firenze (Florence, Italy). We checked in and went to our room. It was a drab dirty looking room. It was Hot even though the Air conditioner was on. I turned it down to a cooler temperature, but it did not respond, and the air blew hot. I called and went downstairs. The girl at the desk seemed to understand and know of the problem. She was nice. I told her I was a gold member. She talked to her boss and moved us into a better room. Nicer, but it still appeared to need a cleaning and a facelift. At night 2 days before we were leaving, we sent 2 pairs of pants and 2 shirts to the cleaners. To cut this short, they Lost our clothes. I talked to the desk clerks and the supervisor, all of whom said and repeated to say they would find them, look for them, and finally send them to us later. Anything but to take responsibility for the loss. They told us that they would not charge us for the cleaning bill as if that was something special. The next day had to forgo site seeing to go shopping to buy other clean clothes. The Assistant General Manager, Paula M, sent me this. Although we sincerely regret your disappointment with your stay in our AC Hotel Firenze, we would like to thank you for sharing your comments, as it will help us to identify areas of concern and act immediately to enhance our future guests' experience among us. I am sorry to hear about the issue with your laundry at the hotel. We work with an external company that takes care of the laundry of our guests, and unfortunately, we had some problems with them during the past week, that they promised to solve so these issues don't happen again. However, we apologize for what happened, and I would like to inform you that, not having found your laundry, ”we want to take responsibility” for what happened, and we want to take care of paying you for the lost clothes. To do so, please give us the value of the clothes and your bank details to which to transfer it to the ”external laundry; they will personally take care” of the bank transfer. She did the same nothing as everyone at the hotel, took responsibility, and then pushed it off to someone else. We have never heard from them again. We Did Not stay at the laundry. But the Marriott Hotel, and gave our belonging to them for cleaning. We sent all the information they requested now; it is time for them to repay us for what they lost. But so far, nothing but words and blaming someone else. Disappointed, Arnold652

We liked the location. In 15-20 minutes, you're in Piazza del Duomo, Piazza Signoria, Palazzo Vecchio, and many other attractions. We loved how clean the hotel it was. They came and changed the towels/made up the beds every day, which is a lot more than any 4* hotels usual offer. We liked the fact that there was parking for free, although we arrived at the hotel late in the evening they still had parking spaces available ( this is a great location and to find a hotel like this with free parking it's an absolute bargain). The breakfast was very nice, they had a very good choice from cheese, mini mozzarellas, ham, boiled eggs , yoghurts, croissants etc. The 2 ladies at breakfast were very nice and friendly. We had our 2 years old daughter running around and they were very understanding and patient. I saw in the previous reviews that someone said the shower was small. Personally, I think that's a bit unfair. The shower was absolutely fine, and the pressure was very good. They even give you shower caps. We liked that the mattress was quite firm, great for the posture and the pillows not too high ( both very comfortable) . Also, I liked the fact there was a mini fridge, very useful as we have a little girl, and it was perfect to keep things cool. We really liked the hotel, and we'd go back in the future. The only thing I would have liked better would have been a room that's on the same floor with the lifts. We had a baby, pram, 2 big cases, rucksack, and we had to go down a big set of steps, which was a little challenging with all our stuff. Also, we didn't like there were some noisy ladies talking quite loudly until midnight outside their room on the corridor ( this is not the hotel's fault, though just inconsiderate people). Everything else was great! Thank you, Hotel Golf. We really enjoyed our stay and we'll be back next time we're in Firenze.
