I live in the US and have wanted to come here for a long time… my stay did not disappoint! This is a beautiful place to disconnect from stress and technology and relax into a quieter pace… surrounded by mountains, beautiful walking trails and amazing people! ❤️ Don’t hesitate it you are looking for a waking holiday off the beaten path. Casa Ana is a little oasis of creativity and contemplation. I found the remote location, quiet village, and beautiful view of the mountain and valley below endlessly inspiring and peaceful. I discovered something new every day! Anne is an experienced and attentive host, with an eye for detail, beauty, and practicality. The Casa, rooms, and gardens are immaculate and comfortable - with space to come together as a group plus plenty of private little terraces to write on your own. Transportation to and from the Casa was comfortable, well-organized, and entertaining! The roads are super windy - so if you get queasy - bring something for motion sickness. The food was delicious - hearty, healthy, and varied. Casa Ana's cooks masterfully adapted to many dietary needs with ease. Every dinner was a delight 😍. I can highly recommend Mandy Wheeler's "Improv on Paper" workshop to find your creative spark and learn how to pull stories, characters, and new worlds out of your imagination with ease!

I spent a week on a writing retreat lead by Tom Bromley. I had a simple, comfortable bedroom with writing desk and shower room and my own front door with a view of the mountains. It was perfect for shutting myself off and focussing on the book I'd gone to work on. There is plenty else to do if you want a break, with hiking trails leading directly from the house and optional yoga. There were also optional reading/feedback sessions and writing prompts. The food was fabulous and meals times a good opportunity to get to know other guests - which was easy because of the limited number. Tom was always happy to chat over meals as well as providing optional (and superbly insightful) mentoring sessions. I would highly recommend it to anyone no matter what stage they were at with their work or what kind of writing.

I stayed at Casa Ana for the creative writing improvisation course with Mandy Wheeler. The week surpassed all expectations. The course was well run with inspiring tuition and fun sessions. Ann and her team arranged everything perfectly from transfer from the airport to trips out. The Alhambra was an exceptional day, the beauty of the palace and gardens has stayed with me. Casa Ana is in the quiet white village of Ferreirola with cobbled pathways and water fountains gushing out mountain spring water for drinking and has many places to walk to. It is a place that demands you to slow down and breathe. Walking through the door into Casa Ana is like walking into another world - magical. A quiet garden terrace overlooking the mountain valley and silence. A shared lounge and kitchen with snacks and drinks available to buy and other balconies to sit and enjoy the view. Although not huge it was easy to find private space to relax. My room had an ensuite and was comfortable and clean, it was decorated in Spanish style with white walls and wooden beams and a shared balcony overlooking the valley. The food cooked by a team of local chefs was very good and varied - so relaxing and lovely to have all meals provided in the dining room at Casa Ana with good packed lunches provided for day trips. Anne and her team are welcoming and friendly and we were well looked after. I cannot recommend Casa Ana highly enough. I carry a little of the place in me and I hope to return one day.

We went tor a week's 'walking and yoga' holiday in May. It was quite simply wonderful. Casa Ana is a beautiful place, in a spectacular setting overlooking a river-gorge (with a lovely terrace-garden full of roses; watch out for the golden orioles); the rooms are clean and comfortable, and the food (produced by a series of skilled local cooks) is fantastic. Lisa (the locally-based Scottish yoga-teacher) was really good, sensitive to the needs of a pretty mixed set of abilities, our walking-guide Jens clearly knew his stuff and ordered things excellently, and -- above all -- our host Anne was exceptionally gracious and hospitable, and deeply knowledgeable (inter alia) about the area. She has created something very special. This was our second visit to Casa Ana; we certainly hope to return.

I had the good fortune to mentor a group of writers here for ten days. It was the perfect setting for creative writers to work independently but to also come together – voluntarily – for prompt and feedback sessions. Delicious meals were all freshly prepared and served – the staff and service was great. Anne was a wonderful and friendly host. As a mentor I was available for any questions the students had and some time for my own writing as well. Highly recommended to anyone who'd like the time and space to focus on their craft. I'd return in a heartbeat.

I attended a 10-day writing retreat at Casa Ana in Jan 2023. The grounds and rooms are lovely - situated in the Andalucian region of Spain. The food is divine - local produce made by talented cooks. Ann is a warm and attentive host. Daily walks/hikes in the Sierra Nevada mountains added to the experience. I didn't want to leave.

This is our sixth trip and it was just as good as the first time - better perhaps as the people spoiling us are more like friends than staff. Our party of 4 joined 12 other fabulous people to walk, relax and enjoy fabulous food. The quality of the meals is stunning, the walks varied and the company of our fellow guests the icing on the cake. A day walking to Chris Stewart's farm where the family had laid on the most amazing array of food was the favourite for most people.

Casa Ana is set in the beautiful mountains a little over an hour from Granda airport. I was there for a writer's retreat with the talanted Mary-Jane Holmes. My experience was excellent, from Emily who arranged all the details, to the chefs who prepared delicious and healthy meals, to Mary Jane whose critiques were so generous and thoughtful and to Anne whose graciousness sets the tone. I would definitely recommend Casa Ana for writing retreats or simply to enjoy the pleasure of nature walks, eating great food, meeting friendly locals, and visiting quaint villages.
