Hotel Coco

We visited Cocos for dinner on a Thursday night . The restaurant has been nicely refurbished from the old Brook Hotel but the dim lighting makes reading the menu a challenge. The service was indifferent and the food a big disappointment.! The prawn cocktail was a few prawns in a very vinegar tasting sauce with a tiny piece of lettuce . The goats cheese starter resulted in a search to find the goats cheese. The steaks for main were ok but nothing special with a few well cooked chips. Not a place I would recommend. Such a shame as we arrived with great expectation.

Bed and room comfortable bathroom very challenging with low ceiling. Minor issues such as loose toilet seat, missing light. However breakfast poor. Ordered scrambled egg on white bread received a yellow liquid on brown. Not sure If Marco Pierre White would want to give his name to this. That said dinner the night before was first rate.

Visited here for the first time since refurbishment, hotel was lovely much nicer loved the decoration, but alot of the features have been kept .The reception was nicer and the down stairs toilets were much more modern and nicer .Warm bar area too .Staff were fabulous. Very warm welcome from the lovely David very kind, caring ,polite great personality, young girl at Breakfast Alexus was very polite professional, courteous too .Then we meet Daka on reception again very polite,kind,humble man .Our room 102 was lovely but still had the little table and chairs in the bay area ,bathroom much improved beautiful shower .Cannot fault the changes .The staff we meet are a credit to the hotel including the gentleman today at breakfast .Will return .Well done to all .

It was definitely an experience, The worst ever!! Fire Alarm kept going off, Food was cold and no better than a standard pub. We were very disappointed, when I asked to speak to the Manager he was "to busy" hopefully he's busy sorting out the issues.

Hotel looks great from outside & reception looks very inviting, unfortunately it ends there. Refurbished to a very poor standard. The bed was very uncomfortable cheap mattress & very thin quilt cover, thin uncomfortable pillow (only allocated one each).. half a roll of toilet paper in the bathroom. Luckily only booked for one night. Awful Hotel Definitely won’t return

My favourite Salthouse Harbour Hotel was unavailable so I thought I’d give Coco a whirl. I have to admit I was expecting more finesse with MPW. That being said, the restaurant welcome was lovely and the room is a good design. The menu had most of the usual brasserie type choices. Not very imaginative. I had the Sunday roast beef which was good. The only negative was the jazz lift music. At least if you’re going to use jazz please be a little more imaginative and play Nora Jones or someone of that ilk. I had breakfast (good) and the jazz was still playing. Lovely serving staff. My room was a large corner one. Very nice. Everything one needs. Big window. Large comfortable bed. Coffee machine. Good en-suite. The design was all a bit safe and slightly boring. The finishing touches left something to be desired. Painting not quite finished. Door to hallway not being able to close as the door missed the frame by about an inch. Cold draught coming from under the basin in bathroom for some reason. The worst was the thin connecting walls. I could hear a family or friends having a good time next door then someone snoring very loudly all night. They might as well have been in my bed. The next night was even worse as I still had the snorer but with the addition of a couple who talked most of the night. All very loud. Even with ear plugs. I would stay again at a push. I seem to have had a better room than other reviews. It is good for Felixstowe but I’d have preferred to have said it was a fabulous addition to Felixstowe. It just misses the finishing touches.
