"A lovely camp deep into the bush, being 3.5 hour drive from Jo'burg. Wonderful service, beautiful food and huge private lodges with our own jacuzzi on our deck. The rooms had a full African feel, with modern amenities. We were unlucky with the weather (a cold snap) and we needed several jumpers and sweathshirts for the early morning drives and sadly, the game was rather sparse, but we get to see lion, and loads of Rhino, giraffe, leopard on a kill and all the usual antelope, and it was a lovely "warm up act" before our trip to Mana Pools, Zimbabwe."

"Makweti Safari Lodge is a exactly right. The accommodations are upscale and very comfortable with separate cabins; ours included it's own deck and plunge pool. The food was creative and delicious, and the staff bent over backward to make sure all guests are comfortable and content. Our driver/tracker was Joseph, who was very knowledgeable and fantastic at spotting game The other driver/tracker was Byron and the guests who joined him said he was terrific as well. Evening "sunsetters", when cocktails are enjoyed on the plains, was magical The lodge is located within the 282 sq. mile Welgevondon unfenced game reserve (one of the largest privately owned game reserves in South Africa). This is a malaria-free altitude. While there are no guarantees of what animals will be viewable, we saw the Big Five and many, many more animals."

"Wonderful experience at Ndlovu Safari Lodge. The lodge is set in a secluded valley and the suites (with terraces, plunge pool, outdoor sofas and a fire) are completely private. We had a view over the gardens where we could watch all sorts of birds and animals. The staff were brilliant. The room was clean with a really comfortable bed, lovely shower and bathroom and well supplied with water, ice, gin, wine, beer, soft drinks, hot drinks etc. The plentiful food was delicious and the bar / restaurant / terrace / lounge area was comfortable and beautifully decorated. We loved the game drives which always included a morning coffee stop and an evening g&t stop and allowed us to see so much of the beautiful Welgevonden landscape and wildlife. The guides were fantastically knowledgeable."

"We stayed here for 4 nights in September. What an amazing experience. The lodge and the rooms are stunning looking down the valley. Every luxury provided and nothing is too much trouble for the team lookong after the guests. Our guide Jacques looked after us exceptionally well his knowledge and ability to spot the animals was incredible. We were so fortunate to have managed amazing sightings of all the big 5 and much more. Only marstaba vehicles are on the reserve so there is dozens of vehicles on a sightings. Mountain lodge is adults only. The main safari lodge caters for families and other groups. Both are beautifully appointed and luxurious. This was a bucket list trip for us and it exceeded expectations. Which were pretty high. I 100% recommend."
