My recent hotel stay was a bit of a mixed experience. While the hotel was clean and well-equipped, there were several issues that detracted from my overall satisfaction. Before arriving, I had communicated with the hotel via email and was told that they could be reached via WhatsApp. However, upon arrival, I was unable to get a response from the hotel on WhatsApp. Additionally, there was no reception area, and check-in had to be done over the phone, which required multiple long-distance phone calls and extra fees. The day before check-in, I received a last-minute email from the hotel requesting a deposit, but they did not provide any information on how to make the payment. Not all of the staff were willing to provide assistance, but the last person I spoke to was patient and helpful, which allowed me to check in smoothly. One major safety concern was that there was a step outside the bathroom, but the floor was not marked, making it easy to trip and fall. Another hazard was the transparent coffee table in the living room, which caused several stumbling incidents that could have led to injuries. Overall, while the hotel was clean and well-maintained, the issues with communication, extra fees, and safety hazards detracted from my experience.

Our family of four stayed at the Canning Street Lane apartments during our recent Edinburgh visit. We had everything we needed at the apartment and the location was convenient to walk to many of the Edinburgh attractions but also removed enough that we felt like it was a quiet place to rest and recharge each day. The booking process was easy and I appreciated that they had nearby luggage storage.

Small pokey apartment, temperature controls overridden so very cold, no soundproofing so hear guests in other apartments. Building work starts at 6am directly outside the bedroom window so no sleep past this time. Customer service are not interested and ignore emails. Many better options in area. Destiny Scotland have really gone downhill.

Mixed feelings about these apartments! The good points: excellent location, 2 mins walk from the West End tram stop and Princes Street, very clean, spacious, well-equipped apartment with large bathroom, shampoo/conditioner/shower gel provided. The bed was very comfortable, and bedroom had lots of storage space. There was an in-room safe, iron and hair-dryer. The kitchen had everything we needed. The bad points: no functioning air conditioning, and as our apartment was on the top floor with skylights, it was like a greenhouse at times. Most of the windows were painted shut. The biggest detractor however was the noise within the apartment complex and also from outside. All doors had very strong self-closing (slamming) mechanisms so we could hear whenever anyone else closed doors in the neighbouring apartments. Whilst I appreciate that the apartment company couldn’t be held responsible for the builders who started work across the lane at 7:30am, the absence of double glazed windows resulted in even more noise. In summary, a lovely apartment in an ideal location for the city centre and conference centre, but don’t expect to get any sleep! Air con and double glazing would solve these issues!

Recently stayed at canning street. Unfortunately we left a day early as we literally had no sleep the first night we stayed there it was horrendous. The apartments are nice and clean and modern but the walls are so thin you can literally hear everything, unfortunately we stayed when someone next door was very loud until 2/3am literally stomping around and dragging furniture across the apartment. Also building works were being done over the road which was very noisy at 7am. There was also a pipe over the road which continually threw water out of it which you could non stop hear. Made a complaint to the company and just to let them know the apartment was now empty as we have left and had a very snarky reply. Shame as the apartment itself was very clean and nice. I do have videos of said noises but unfortunately cannot upload videos on here

Have stayed in various Destiny Apartments over the last few years as I have family in the area and I can say with certainty I will not use again. The apartment itself is not in the least bit soundproof, with drunken noise and shouting outside the window every night I stayed, the cleaners clattering a hoover up and down the hardwood stairs at 8.30am and culminating in 3 women trying to gain access to my apartment as they had either misread or been given incorrect information. The customer service response was "it happens" no apology, no compensation and very obviously uninterested in dealing with a complaint. Very disappointing as they once were the one to beat for decent accommodation.

We had a great overall stay at Canning Street Lane - apartment incredibly clean, equipped with everything you need and in a great location. Wifi also worked amazingly. The only downsides were the windows not being double glazed (they let noise in to the point where you thought they were open and kept checking) and the person coming to clean our room already making noise at 8:30 on a Saturday morning - she then proceeded to stand and wait on the tiny corridor right outside our door ALL morning until 11:00 (bear in mind you can hear everything through the doors so we could not even have a private conversation properly). We left the apartment at 9:30 to get a coffee and walk around, she was waiting there clearly ready to get in, then in the same position when we came back an hour later. To say we felt rushed and uncomfortable would be an understatement! Would be great if the company gave their staff a break room they can wait in or if they were told to come back at actual check-out time at 11…
