Just returned from a 2 day stay here where I had a single room with balcony on the 4th floor. Having spent my life working in the hotel industry I know what I'm looking for that suits me & this fitted the bill perfectly. It's clean, serves a delicious breakfast & it's small enough to have the personal touch where the reception staff can greet you by name each time you pass by. All of the staff were lovely, even when the language difference came into play, but special mention has to go to Hans on the desk who was so friendly & helpful & good at making recommendations (we even got around to discussing politics!) & who is definitely an asset to the hotel, as was the gentleman in the back office but whose name I didn't catch, but was a mine of information. The lady on breakfasts was also happy to serve me a cappuccino with my food then another one to take to my balcony to enjoy with a cigarette! Cologne is a lovely city, the hotel is literally 2 mins away from the central train station so getting around anywhere is very easy & 10 min walk from the boats for a Rhine cruise which I thoroughly enjoyed. Were I to return I would definitely stay here again & wouldn't hesitate to recommend it to anyone. Thank you Hotel Ludwig!

Much better than expected! Functional, practical, luxury room, close to historic centrum, delicious breakfast and excellent service! Thank you again hotel staff for sending back my folding-knife that I was so stupid to forget in our room!

Hotel Ludwig has exceptional customer service! Everyone was super nice and very accommodating. They held our luggage day of check out so we could explore the city for a few hours. The rooms are as described. They are the basics of what you need. There isn’t anything luxurious however it’s very clean and safe. I would stay here every time I come to Cologne. The breakfast had good options and was tasty. My family spoke German and I spoke English. The front desk clerks spoke both languages and made sure I had a good stay. Highly recommend for English speaking travelers. Plus the hotel was in a central location and in walking distance to so many things. Literally right around the corner from Moulin Rouge, which is why we were there. Thank you for a wonderful experience!

Liked · Breakfast is amazing, varied, tasty and plentiful. Staff are friendly and kind (Tatyana especially). Beds are comfortable. Bathroom is really good with a great shower, toiletries and plenty of towels. Room was very clean. 5 mins walk from hauptbahnhof, 2 minutes to the Rhein, 7 mins to the Dom. Train to the airport is easy and quick too. The area is nice and quiet. Disliked · Rooms are not very warm, we stayed during a cold snap in March, and the room was pretty cold. Walls are pretty thin, so we could hear other people.

What a gem of a hotel! The staff could not have been more friendly or helpful. The location was perfect for the main station, less than 5 minutes walk. The hotel was spotless and very comfortable. We particularly appreciated the air conditioning! After a long day on the train, cold beer on our balcony was wonderful. The breakfast was beautifully presented with lots of choice of fresh food. We loved the table settings and it is clear that great pride is taken in making this hotel really lovely.

Great location ideally located to the train station, comfy rooms with great shower. Breakfast was vast and full of choices! All staff in all areas were great to deal with! We noticed no noise in our room, very quiet inside and out. Happy we chose to stay there and will stay there again

Hotel is nice. Stuff are all friendly. We had a nice room with a bslcony. Hotel is very good located straight next to the rail station. Breakfast was good we just waited a bit long to get our coffee. It would be better they put coffee machines in the restaurant.

Good infrastructure and breakfast but VERY disappointed as we were told the parking was FREE and when my wife checked out, the guy charged 20 euros and was rude to her. Not even a "I'm sorry about it" which is the minimum of what a decent hotel would do. We later returned at night to complain and ask for a refund, we were even offered a champagne in return (which is the same as money) and didn't accept because we were going to fly in the next few hours. We would never stay there again, next time you should charge parking at check-in to avoid this big misunderstanding! And at the end we were told that parking would not be refunded. Since we had a rental car, I did not want to park on the street to avoid damage.
