Nested at our nature reatreat, The Bird House welcomes you to enjoy a one of a kind retreat in a modern treehouse. Woodland trails on 30+ acres meander throughout the property and two nearby creeks offer seasonal (rainfall dependent) swimming holes and exploration. This distinctive spot is both a place of respite for those seeking time in nature and conveniently located to downtown Chattanooga. It's a perfect place for couples and families looking to escape or explore all Chattanooga has to offer.
The Bird House, entirely your own to enjoy, is two distinct cabins joined by a covered porch. One side of the cabin offers a massive king-size bed, smart TV, and a bathroom with a gorgeous walk-in shower. The other side has a modern kitchen with a vintage flair that's well appointed for all your culinary needs as well as a living room with a smart TV and a full-size pull-out couch. Both sides have beautiful forest and mountain views!
The Space:
The Bird House is nested between boulders and trees on more than 30 acres of forest. And our backyard is Prentice Cooper State Forest with its 25,000 acres of semi-protected land.
We have trails throughout the property to explore. There are two nearby creeks that offer seasonal (rainfall dependent) blue hole swimming. Sulphur Branch, the creek just behind The Bird House, is easy to access. And Suck Creek, a local favorite, is just on the other side of Suck Creek road from the property.
A large fire pit with boulder benches is in the front yard for fireside chats and marshmallow roasting. We also have a gas grill ready for you.
We hosted a small forest school for children in the Chattanooga area for 3 years, but it has since moved off the property. You can still see their outdoor classrooms if you wonder the property.
Guest Access:
You are free to roam the entire property, exploring the trails and creeks throughout.
The Bird House is one of four cabins on our property where our family has been working for years to create a rare space for our guests to enjoy. Each cabin was either built by us from local materials or remodeled by us to be a unique space for you to experience. Born and raised here in Chattanooga, this land is the place we choose to raise our children - surrounded by nature and the incredible beauty of the Tennessee River Gorge.
There are two devoted parking spaces with motion sensor lights at The Bird House as well as plenty of overflow parking nearby.
Other Details to Note:
Please note, some road noise can be expected here at The Bird House as the cabin is next to a main thoroughfare. Sulphur Branch creek also runs just behind the cabin, so you can anticipate sounds of rushing water. We have a sound machine at the cabin for your use.
Please take note of the layout of Bird House. The bathroom has an open floorplan where an accent wall (without a door) separates the bathroom from the bedroom. There is no lack of privacy, however, as both sides of Bird House can be curtained & closed.
All the water for The Bird House is filtered from a pristine spring and tastes wonderful (like nothing at all really), so there's no need to bring bottled water. We have a whole house filter in place as well as a Brita water pitcher in the fridge.
We have a tankless water heater so each guest can enjoy hot showers! And each side of The Bird House has its own mini split unit to perfectly control the heat & air inside.
We straddle the Eastern and Central time zones. Be aware that cell phones may alternate between the two when in this area, but we abide by Eastern Standard Time (as does Chattanooga).
Again, water levels for all our local creeks are dependent on the amount of recent rainfall. Enjoy a unique retreat at Bluegrass Highway - a comfortable cabin for road warriors looking for a one-of-a-kind stay just 7 miles from Prentice Cooper State Park & 8 miles from downtown Chattanooga. Folks towing toys, we’ve got you covered with plenty of parking on our property for your trailer. Right here in Suck Creek Canyon, we have swimming holes, hiking, paddling, fishing, and climbing too. So come on in, pick a little on the banjo, and have a great time relaxing after a big day exploring!
The Space:
Bluegrass Highway is easy to access, just off the road, on our 30+ acres of forested land. Given our location and all the choices for activities nearby, your biggest problem will be deciding how to fit it all in. You could stay here at the nature retreat and explore the land, relax by the creek, or sit on the deck. Or you could head to all the trails in Prentice Cooper and/ or to downtown Chattanooga in under 10 minutes.
We have a fully equipped kitchen with everything you'll need including pots & pans, dishes, cutlery, coffee, tea, spices, an electric range & oven, microwave, French press & drip coffee maker. Our living room, with a unique round window that's perfect for bird watching, has a couch that transforms to accommodate a twin sleeping space. Upstairs has a bedroom with a queen size bed, windows overlooking Suck Creek with a view of Signal Mountain, reading chairs, and a smart TV. Also upstairs is the bathroom with a giant walk-in shower with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash there for you. We have a small washer & dryer for your use as well.

This cabin may not be the best spot for exploring toddlers as the staircase and landing are open. Be sure to take that into consideration if booking with children.
We straddle the Eastern and Central time zones. Be aware that cell phones may alternate between the two when in this area, but we abide by Eastern Standard Time (as does Chattanooga).
Water levels for all our nearby creeks is dependent on the amount of recent rainfall. Beautiful serene setting at Nickajack Lake that sits minutes from boat docks and Marion County Park. Chattanooga is a short 20 mile drive. Golf, hiking and restaurants are nearby. We are surrounded by 7 wooded acres for peace and quiet, yet close enough to town to enjoy all there is to do in the Chattanooga area. Enjoy quiet evenings on the covered porch, cookout on the spacious deck, enjoy the backyard fire pit, or play basketball in the drive. View deer as they stroll in the yard and surrounding property or catch stunning sunsets from the porch. Five private bedrooms with three full baths as well as a loft with a privacy curtain are available for private sleeping spaces. A portable crib, toddler bed and high chair are available. The home is well appointed with everything you need for a comfortable stay including a fully equipped kitchen, Fiber internet, and streaming TV (YouTube TV included). Two desks are available for remote work. There is plenty of parking room for multiple boats, cars or trailers . This neighborhood is quiet and secure with plenty of distance between you and the neighbors. All bedding including blankets is changed and surfaces are disinfected between guests. Hosts live nearby to ensure your needs are met. Dogs are allowed with pet fee. Sorry- no cats. Events are allowed with prior approval. A $200 event fee applies. For your convenience, you will find:

The home is a perfect blend of modern open spaces yet retains a warm and cozy environment with the huge stone fireplace, vaulted wood ceiling and hardwood floors. On your approach, you'll see glimpses of the bluff and be welcomed with a large front yard and porch overlooking the gardens. From the glass entry door, your eyes will gaze straight to the beautiful bluff through the four French doors of the Great Room leading to the huge deck. From there, spread out and enjoy the 3 levels of this spacious home!
The Great Room is the perfect gathering place! Gaze out the doors for a spectacular view, play games, work a puzzle or read books by a cozy fire. Above the stone fireplace, enjoy the 65" Smart TV (Some local stations provided or log on to your favorite apps with your login info-FIBER INTERNET). The Dining Room opens to the Great Room & Kitchen and has a large table with seating for 7 (expandable, if needed) nestled between two French Doors. The lower level boasts a 2nd Living Area (9' ceiling) with floor-to-ceiling bookshelves. Read a magazine or book, play games or branch out with some creativity on the electric piano or drum set. A large 3D TV and queen sleeper sofa make it the perfect space for a movie or a 5th sleeping area. Walk out onto the large 12'x37' screened porch and soak in the SaluSpa Hot Tub. Woodland trails on 30+ acres meander throughout our nature retreat and two nearby creeks offer seasonal swimming holes and exploration. This distinctive spot is both a place of respite for those seeking time in nature and conveniently located just 8 miles from downtown Chattanooga. It's a perfect place for couples and families looking to escape or explore all Chattanooga has to offer.

This modern A-Frame is a unique space where luxury meets nature. You'll find everything you need to enjoy a very comfortable stay surrounded by acres of peaceful forest just 8 miles from downtown Chattanooga.
Pinnacle, entirely your own to enjoy, comfortably hosts a family of four or two couples complete with two bedrooms. The main floor bedroom has a king-size bed and a skylight so you can view the forest canopy above. The second bedroom with another king-size bed is located in the open loft with incredible views of our property and a screen divider in case you’d prefer some privacy. The bathroom at Pinnacle is outfitted with beautiful tiles and a gorgeous walk-in shower. The living room is complete with a smart TV, a mid-century modern sofa and slipper chair. The open concept dining area has seating for six where you can look out over the property through our GIANT sliding glass doors. The kitchen is small but mighty! Every amenity has been provided in the kitchen to accommodate all of your culinary needs. All just steps from your own fire pit, we have a spacious deck outfitted with four Adirondack chairs for your relaxation, a brand new gas grill and cornhole boards.
PLEASE NOTE: Pinnacle has a spiral staircase that is NOT IDEAL FOR YOUNG CHILDREN. We also have very large sliding glass doors that could prove to be challenging with young kids. Please take this into consideration if booking with children.
Pinnacle is nestled between boulders and trees on more than 30 acres at our nature retreat. And our backyard is Prentice Cooper State Forest with its 25,000 acres of semi-protected land. We have trails throughout the property to explore! There are two nearby creeks that offer seasonal (rainfall dependent) blue hole swimming. Sulphur Branch, just down the trail from Pinnacle, is easy to access. And Suck Creek, a local favorite, is right on the other side of Suck Creek Road from the retreat.

Born and raised here in Chattanooga, this land is the place we choose to raise our children - surrounded by nature and the incredible beauty of the Tennessee River Gorge. For the past three years we have hosted a small outdoor school for children on our property. It has since moved across the street, but you can still find some of our outdoor classrooms in the forest.
GUEST ACCESS:
You are free to roam the entire property, exploring the trails and creeks throughout. Please be conscious of where you park as our driveway needs to remain accessible for the cabins at our retreat. When parking for Pinnacle, feel free to pull along the boulders beside the A-Frame (allowing space to drive past) or in front of the deck along our lower loop.

Woodland trails on 30+ acres meander throughout the property and two nearby creeks offer seasonal swimming holes and exploration. This distinctive spot is both a place of respite for those seeking time in nature and conveniently located to downtown Chattanooga. It's a perfect place for couples and families looking to escape or explore all Chattanooga has to offer.

Tiny Tanasi, derived from the Cherokee word for Tennessee, is a tiny house in a unique space where comfort meets nature. You'll find everything you need to enjoy a wonderful stay surrounded by acres of peaceful forest just 8 miles from downtown Chattanooga.
Tiny Tanasi, entirely your own to enjoy, is cozy and comfortable. It offers a sleeping loft with a queen size bed and a small reading loft - both accessible by ladder. We have a fully equipped kitchen with everything you'll need including pots & pans, dishes, cutlery, coffee, tea, spices, a gas range, microwave, and a French press. Tiny Tanasi's bathroom has a stand up shower with shampoo, conditioner, and body wash there for you. Our living room, with a smart TV, has a couch that transforms to accommodate an extra large twin sleeping space. We also have a washer/dryer combo for your use inside.
You can choose to completely disconnect while here or tap into our lightning fast internet (over 1G)! Working remotely from here is easy, reliable, and relaxing.
Tiny Tanasi's backyard is Prentice Cooper State Forest with its 26,000 acres of semi-protected land. We have trails throughout the property to explore and they start right out the front door. There are two nearby creeks that offer seasonal (rainfall dependent) blue hole swimming. Sulphur Branch, down the hill from Tiny Tanasi, is easy to access. And Suck Creek, a local favorite, is just on the other side of Suck Creek road from the property.
Tiny Tanasi is one of four cabins on our property where our family has been working for years to create a rare space for our guests to enjoy. Each cabin was either built by us from local materials or remodeled by us to be a unique space for you to experience.
Born and raised here in Chattanooga, this land is the place we choose to raise our children - surrounded by nature and the incredible beauty of the Tennessee River Gorge. For years, we have hosted a forest school on our property to give children the opportunity to learn while immersed in nature. The school has relocated across the street, but you can still find our outdoor classrooms when you walk through the woods.
We have several fire pits for you to enjoy for fireside chats and marshmallow roasting. We also have a charcoal grill for your use.
Guest Access:
Our tiny house is entirely yours to enjoy. It is located on 30+ acres of private property where we have three other unique short term rentals. Tiny Tanasi has its own private space on the upper tier of our property.

I am happy to answer any questions and provide recommendations. We love Chattanooga (born and raised), so we're always excited to share what this place has to offer. We also live nearby and can be available if needed.

Tiny Tanasi is nestled in the woods and while we do our best to keep nature on the outside, life can sometimes find a way in. This may not be the place for you if tiny insects are a deal breaker.
All the water for Tiny Tanasi is filtered from a pristine spring and tastes wonderful (like nothing at all really), so there's no need to bring bottled water. We have a whole house filter in place as well as a Brita water pitcher in the fridge.
In the event that Chattanooga experiences multiple days of below freezing temperatures, it is likely the water source for Tiny Tanasi will freeze. We will do everything in our power to provide a comfortable experience, but please understand that we have no control over mother nature.
This tiny house may not be the best spot for exploring toddlers as there is a ladder to access the open loft spaces. Be sure to take that into consideration if booking with children.
We straddle the Eastern and Central time zones. Be aware that cell phones may alternate between the two when in this area, but we abide by Eastern Standard Time (as does Chattanooga).
Water levels for all our nearby creeks are dependent on the amount of recent rainfall.
