As a four star hotel I expect soft close doors and no stools in rooms that guests can drag around their rooms! Tiled floors and stool together should be banned! The doors of the rooms slam loudly, if you are on a floor full of 5am risers there's no peace. Surely a four star hotel should have soft close doors. Or even a sign asking people not to slam doors we managed it but the rest of the hotel guests seemed to slam everydoor. I was on second floor my friends on fourth they had same issue. Loads of slamming doors. Wasn't relaxing due to the noise. Inside pool wasn't heated. Food was good, 4 star mostly but lacking actual vegetarian options. Most labelled veggie food was labelled that way as it didn't contain visible meat. Meat and fish stocks and all cheese including parmesan are considered veggie We found chicken pieces in a veggie soup. Vegeterian salad came out with tuna in! Maybe they consider fish veggie? All deserts are labelled veggie, but some contain gelatine. If your not veggie or vegan then food is good. Didn't really understand the morning coffee thing some guests got fancy fresh made coffees everyone else it was self serve vending machine. Staff didn't hang around long enough to ask. Drink service in the restaurant was pretty hit and miss one night we got three waiters in 5 minutes next night we got no one for 45 minutes! Only seemed to get offered drinks once most nights. Breakfast good plenty of variety and lovely breads and cakes. Inside pool wasn't heated. It's a long walk to get anywhere, the shuttle is a great service. Wouldn't advise the walk for anyone weak or with mobility issues. Hiring electric bikes made our holiday. Cocktails and wine are great. Service was slow in that they didn't come round to take orders very often, sure they could make a fortune if they did more table service. Didn't feel the friendliness that most reviews mention. Staff were polite but not welcoming. Got an occasional hello but no engagement. Reception and cleaning people always had a smile for us and were always chatty. Entertainment was on two nights great but would have been nice if there was more. As its so out of the way you have to get a taxi on a night to go anywhere. There's nothing going on locally. Rooms were clean but bathrooms very dated. Although we had three rooms between our group all had same issue with shower being to powerful for the drain and small shallow shower tray, so you could only have shower on low power else you flooded your bathroom. Shower cubicle very small. Rooms pretty small. Balcony basic and issues with people smoking and having to keep doors shut to avoid the smell. Glazing aged, no sound sealing doors on the balcony so outside noise was a bit of disturbance especially the bin lorry very early each morning. Beds comfy but on one pillow person no four star if you ask me I like a few pillows! Aircon worked well. Pool was pretty. Cool though so wasn't busy. No sunbed drinks service unlike most 4 stars.
