Meghauli Serai Chitwan National Park - A Taj Safari Lodge

What a fantastic experience we had 2 weeks ago at Meghauli Serai. I was there with my godadughter for 3 nights, and we were treated like royalty. From the warm greeting upon arrival, the daily surprises by Sanjay, the care to make sure we enjoyed every meal (remembering our preferences) to the amazing daily safaris, it was all magical. The rooms were very comfortable with some of the best bedding of the whole trip. The private plunge pool was a perfect respite from the hot hot weather. It was clean, clear and cool. The food was varied and we always had a choice of western or Nepali food. The chef(s) made some fabulous meals, and Sanjay and his coworkers delivered them with a smile, with some jokes, and in varied locations (pool, restaurant, bar, river view) so every meal was memorable. I spoke with my goddaughter's mom today and she said my goddaughter was still bringing up Sanjay and his wonderful hospitality. He really made it so special. The variety and combination of the jeep, boat and walking safari ls kept it interesting and fresh each day. Speaking of the safari, I had missed an opportunity to do a safari in India to look for tigers, so spotting a tiger here was on the top of my list. I knew not to be upset if we didn't see one, as the grasses were starting to get high, and a safari isn't like Disneyland- you aren't guaranteed any sightings. Our naturalist, Santosh, mentioned they hadn't seen a tiger in a month or so. In our second day, we were so very pleased to get to a vantage point to see a large male tiger crossing the river. When the locals on elephants mentioned their elephants were getting a bit spooked, Santish knew exactly where we needed to go. And our (always smiling) driver, Balkrishna, got us up to the lookout place just in time!! It was magical, and I think our excitement was matched by our guides's excitement. With bucket list item checked off, i was satisfied. But when a a tiger is sighted, it's likely to be spotted in the area again in the surtounding days. So we went back and searched the area. No luck. However, later on our way out of the park, I spotted a tiger just off to the right in the grass hanging out. This time a female and she was glorious. I know we were lucky, and finding all the animals is not guaranteed (we never saw the sloth bear), however, I believe the care, knowledge, and persistence of Santosh helped us make the most of our experience. I highly recommend if you find yourself in Nepal and want to get close to nature, you book a place at Meghauli Serai. You won't regret it.

Truly an incredible experience. The hospitality was top tier! We loved our safaris - saw rhinos, crocodiles, bears, monkeys. Santosh was an amazing guide, so knowledgeable and kind. And Chitra was a phenomenal host - took such great care of us! So accommodating - for us Americans it was unforgettable!

We had an absolutely amazing stay at the Taj! The amenities and rooms are unbeatable, the food is absolutely delicious, and the staff members are amazing. A special shoutout to Sanjay for making our stay extra special! The hotel offers incredible opportunities to see wildlife, including walking, jeep, and boat safaris, and we could even see elephants and rhinos from the pool. I couldn't recommend this hotel enough. A truly unforgettable experience!

Amazing service, truly the entirety of the staff made it an amazing experience. Sanjay with the dining is one of a kind and was able to accommodate me very well. I am gluten free and had no issues with plenty of options. Salina was also such a doll-- incredibly thankful for her and all the staff.

We loved our experience there. It was so beautiful. The hosts were so kind, full of love and with beautiful hearts! The space was beautiful. So well taken care of. We knew we were in the right place when we saw the blue lotus pond next to our accommodations.

loveddddd the villa room. we went for a night but the hangover of the place lasted for weeks. we loved the vibe and the view form the room pool was amazing. will definitely be back. we love the cultural dance and food also. the breakfast was very good too. worth all the money we spend here.

Everything was good. It was great experience thanks a lot for lighting the fire spice during the cutting of the birthday,s cake. Best for jungle safari. Thanks for Mr amit and Sanjay mahato's & kitchen teams as well also they have mini golf course.

We had high expectations for our stay, and the reality exceeded every one of them. We stayed in a villa that was thoughtfully furnished and decorated and extremely comfortable. The view of the river was perfect, joyful to sit outside and just relax. The property itself is attractive and welcoming, with lots of places to appreciate the surroundings and to rest and/or socialize. The dining area takes advantage of the views whether sitting indoors or out. A shout-out to Chitra and his associates for taking such fantastic and attentive care of us. A truly amiable host. It was like being treated by an old friend. The food was delicious and varied. Everything was excellent, but we especially enjoyed the Chinese offerings. And the safaris..... We were going in large part to see a tiger. We'd failed in our efforts in India, and the odds are even less in Nepal. Our deep and abiding gratitude to Santosh and Santosh for their extraordinary skills and, as important, their patience, which allowed us to see a tiger on two of our three drives. Just seeing one would have been a miracle, but two? Most people will take just one drive and cover a lot of territory. In our case, we arranged for a private vehicle and were able to sit quietly where Santosh and Santosh identified as highest probability based on their considerable knowledge, and it paid off. Please keep expectations in check, as sightings are very rare, but worth the effort. Beyond the tiger, we had exciting sightings of a sloth bear, crocs, rhinos, lots of birds, and many other animals. I also recommend taking taking the boat ride on the river. Beautiful scenery and stunning bird sightings. Many thanks to Amit and his superb staff. Without exception, they made us feel welcome and appreciated, responding immediately and cheerfully to whatever we needed. I recommend this property with great enthusiasm and appreciation for all the staff did to make our stay so memorable.

I would absolutely suggest anyone reading this and looking for a peaceful stay in Chitwan to book this without a doubt. The hospitality and warmth we received at Meghauli Serai was beyond comparable. Their manager Vishal took person care of us while coordinating exact time of our arrival for first of many surprises they had planned. Sanjay and Pabita took our meals too seriously and made sure not just our bellies but our hearts were full as well. Buddhi took us for the safari with more than half a dozen Rhinos. I would 100/100 recommend a stay here as it is more than just a stay, it is an experience. They plan surprises all throughout your stay and no time here seemed enough. Hope you get to experience what we did.
