Hotel is up on a hill, so need to walk steep upslope every time we walk back to hotel after exploring surrounding areas to shop, see attractions. If taking didi/taxi, pls inform the driver to drive up even if they see the barricade. The barricade will auto-lift up to allow cars in. Rooms are clean. Service is superb. Highly recommend the tour guide at the hotel. Highly recommend the restaurant at the hotel. Cute deers and friendly cats within the hotel compound that roam freely.

An attractive hotel in a former imperial complex (a library or something like that) offering large, clean rooms. It's up on the side of a hill but taxis/rideshare will take you to the front door. Also it's very close to the town center and is a short ride to the temples that are of interest in Chengde. They have a decent breakfast at the onsite restaurant, and a dinner service featuring local dishes that are supposed to be similar to what an emperor might have eaten. So you can dine like an emperor, for a fee. The large deer roaming the grounds stare at your with the big, sad eyes, obviously looking for a handout, but don't fall for it as there's plenty of grass. There was some construction going on, seems the buildings are being refurbished, but it did not really interfere with our stay. Signs in English and English-speaking staff at the front desk.

Amazing stay. The hotel is part of the summer palace and right next to the main entrance gate. Many friendly fallow deers hanging around; the restaurant is great as well

Very Classical Chinese palace style hotel. Very clean and elegant facilities with garden and deers in the back yard.  Great location next to the Mountain Resort main entrance. Very friendly staff with good service. Definitely recommended.

Great location for sight seeing. Very quite, slept well. The entire hotel is a bit dated, which could also be seen as charming. Staff super friendly and helpful. Quite different from the standard hotels elsewhere that can be booked in winter time.

The Imperial Mountain Resort is located right next to the Imperial Gardens Park. The location is excellent for both visiting the gardens and the city area just south of the gardens. It was interesting to stay in a hotel that was once part of the governmental complex of the Qing Dynasty and the exterior decor was lovely. While some of the hotel rooms maintain a themed decor, unfortunately, the more basic rooms are designed as generic hotel rooms. They are still nice, but it would be nice to have a bit more Qing Dynasty connection there. Breakfast buffet was good and the deer that roam the grounds gave the place more of a woodland feel. There were also three cats living there that we encountered during our stay. Overall, we would stay here again if going back to Chengde.

Love the environment surrounded by nature! Comfortable stay in the room and nice amenities provided.

Place was nice and spacious. Shower was great. Though the heater couldn't be turned on for long it made noises. You can book a private guide from the reception. There was an in house costume store. Seems like you can wear costumes for free?, but they didn't explain it to us. the place is near to a mall which has haidilao. There is also a 24 foot massage place along the path to the mall and a famous almond store. Do try their almond drink it is delicious! I Don't eat beef, but the lamb noodle store along that stretch was also nice. The location is perfect for 1 day in chengde.

She was not only beautiful and kind, but incredibly knowledgeable about Chengde’s history. She tailored our itinerary to suit our pace, recommended the freshest local fruits, and took us to enjoy authentic Manchurian cuisine. Highly recommended for anyone wanting a meaningful and immersive stay in Chengde!

Breathing taking! Breakfast is great. And there are deers in the resort. Imagine waking up with deers outside your room. Deers are friendly too.

Everything are good, except the room is stuffy because the air-conditioning will be turn off in the middle of the night, and cannot turn on during the day unless you inform the frontdesk. Instead of staying for 5 nights, I checked out after the second night.

Not sure what it would really be like, but it was better than imagined in every possible way! Amazing location within the mountain resort walls, lovely old buildings and garden, spacious room full of amenities and details, great bed, super friendly staff with good English and best of all the top restaurant with its imperial dishes and much more, plus a great breakfast buffet! Very close to the resort and an easy Didi trip to the fantastic temples. Definitely the most beautiful hotel of our trip, thanks!
