I arrived from Jerez airport train station to Cádiz station in around 35 minutes. The hotel is around 20 mins walk from the station. As it was a hot afternoon and I had luggage, I got a taxi to the hotel for less than €5. The hotel is in a pedestrian only area so the taxi stopped 10 metres away from the hotel entrance. ( The taxi back to the station was around €17 as there is a one way traffic system). Case Gades had a very efficient door passcode entry in place meaning guests can come & go at all hours. On arrival I received a warm & friendly welcome from Enriquez. He explained there were safe lockers to leave luggage and suggested places to visit and eat. I ate at a few of his suggestions and I was not disappointed. City maps were available at reception. There was a comfy room off reception to chill, along with a cold, filtered water station for guests to use. The hotel is very clean, & smart: all staff I met were friendly. It retains some lovely stone wall features and has lifts or stairs to all upper floors. I think there are just 18 rooms. The whole place looked very sleek and fresh. I upgraded the room which had a Juliette balcony and shutters. It looked over the cobbled narrows street below. There was a large, comfortable bed with good firm pillows and fresh linens. There was adequate hanging space for a few days stay, coffee & kettle was provided along with filtered water in the fridge which was replaced daily. The en-suite was smart & spacious for a city hotel, with large shower and sink, soft white towels, hairdryer and toiletries. A clothes steamer was also provided. There was no room safe so I used the downstairs lockers. On the fourth floor is a rooftop terrace with a few loungers and a comfy corner seating area. I would have likes to see a few large green plants and perhaps a bistro style table & chairs here but otherwise it was a very acceptable place to chill with a book. I would recommend this Cádiz city hotel: clean, welcoming with cafes, restaurants, bakery and supermarket on the doorstep along with various independent shops and sights close by.
