We booked a weekend away to Zwahili for some much needed rest and relaxation. Upon arrival, the manager, Charity, was unbelievably rude. We were treated like school children, being told to sit and wait in the conference room to check in, not being attended to for 30 minutes, and then scolded when fetching our child from the viewing deck. We were shown to our room, which was fine. The toilet that is open and only enclosed by some wooden slats was a bit uncomfortable. Zwahili claims that children of all ages are welcome, but littles are clearly not welcome. No accommodations are offered for them at all. At other lodges where we stayed with our child, shorter bush drives were offered as to not bother the other guests. The manager offered to watch my child (after saying that my child will probably cry the entire time!) so that I can go on a game drive. There was no way I would ever leave my child alone with her. I contacted the agency through whom we booked the stay, and alerted them to the fact that we were unhappy with the service received so far. The manager then came to our unit, and she was quite confronting. I was extremely uneasy with the situation, but she did make an effort to make us feel more welcome after that. All in all, spend your money somewhere else. For the price they charge, it’s not value for money. There is basically no game viewing what so ever, the unit we stayed is due for new furniture and some general refurbishment, and all drinks are extra.
