Château du Landel

A beautiful chateau, in a quiet country setting with great charm, lovely rooms and incredible food. Not to mention the warm welcome and attentive service. Lovely pillows, and very dog friendly with extensive lawns. If booking with larger dogs try to avoid rooms 17/18 as although they have their own access they are up a curving wooden stairway that is quite slippery for paws.

This was our first visit to the château and it delivered all it promised - great location, impressive building, fine food and a warm, friendly welcome. First impressions are of an imposing Normandy château approached along a tree-lined avenue set in extensive grounds. Inside the rooms are individual and full of character but the real treat comes at meal times. The food is sublime and the service very good. Apparently the owner’s dream was to become a chef in a top starred restaurant and when the opportunity arose to take over the Château du Landel he seized the it with both of his skilled chef’s hands. His signature dish, a meringue, cream, fruit and sorbet ‘cake’, is a triumph of culinary skill and imagination. We thought it was simply fabulous. But the icing on the cake is that rooms at the chateau are reasonably priced but with limited space we are told they tend to go quickly. Within easy reach of channel ports it’s an obvious stop for people going through the channel ports. Niggles? The rooms on the second floor require a climb and there’s no lift. But that was about the only issue we had otherwise highly recommended.

Lack of response, either positive or negative, to customer’s requests. We booked a 3-day-stay at the hotel through ***********. A couple of days before the expected check-in we have to cancel the full trip to France due to a car breakdown on the way. The other booked hotels accepted our cancellation request free of charge or at least responded with a message. No news from this hotel in 6 days until the full-stay-charge came.

We are delighted to have discovered the Chateau du Landel. A hidden gem and the perfect place to relax. The buildings and the grounds are beautiful . The restaurant is first class and we would recommend it. We are hoping to return in the not too distant future.

We stayed here only one evening but it was memorable. We received a warm reception. The chateau is beautiful and elegant, in beautiful surroundings and even has an apiary. Our room was large and beautifully furnished with a comfortabe bed and modern bathroom. The dinner was excellent. We opted not to have breakfast there because we wanted to eat in and visit the beautiful and nearby village Lyons-la-Foret but i'm sure it was equally as good. I heartily reccommend the Chateau du Lande.

This is a classic “fur coat and no knickers” chateau – hugely imposing frontage, but one room and a corridor thick. Carefully maintained by the resent owner – who seems to have been there fiorever. Came back here in September at short notice for the first time in a while (because of Covid, of course). Forgot to ask specifically for one of the first floor rooms (the Rose Room is our favourite) and so ended up in what used to be the servants’ quarters up two flights of stairs. Not nearly as nice – and MUCH smaller rooms. I was very pleased to find that the food in the restaurant was still faultlessly cooked and beautifully presented. We love the place.
