On our arrival the gentleman was gruff and indifferent a stereotypical German greeting. Thankfully this was the exception among the staff. An oddly eccentric throwback to Weimar Berlin, the Hotel Augusta is unapologetically old-fashioned. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, the housekeeping perfect, breakfast is good. Location near ideal for all of Berlin, subways a very short walk away. Not however for anyone with mobility issues. Solid 3 star

We booked three nights. Quiet location ten minute walk to S bahn. Beds comfortable. Clean. The photographs look nicer than our experience. Our room did not look like the pictures! We asked for a balcony room but didn’t get one. Breakfast seventeen euro each, good choice. Curtains do not fit the window so very light. Air con dated. Some of the reception staff were unfriendly and rude. Breakfast staff friendly. Expensive for the quality of our room, particularly the unfriendliness of some of the reception staff was disappointing. On checkout the female receptionist was incredibly rude and unfriendly.

We arrived four hours early, but they still let us have a room since it was done. The room was spacious with two comfortable chairs by the window. The service was excellent, and the breakfast was good, but a tiny bit low on choices. I was a bit tired of meatballs and eggs for breakfast, but I had a lot of fresh fruit and tea to make u up for it. Only real downside with the room was the lack of WiFi, there was one but so low quality that I was disconnected from my web mail.

I was so disappointed at the treatment from this hotel on checkout. I was presented with a bill for room tax not included in the rate and a 50 euro fee for changing a bedsheet. Breakfast is also not included and I would recommend taking it across the street at Reinhardts which is much better value. But even better just avoid this hotel which has no idea of how to treat customers respectfully and just stay at Hotel Henri in the next street instead. Such a pity as some of the staff were nice, but the lady who checked us out was awful and disrespectful and 50 euros for a clean bedsheet is shocking from any hotel, let’s be honest. I could have bought them a new sheet for less than that! In any decent hotel a clean sheet is a basic service.

Old hotel, musty smell throughout. Bedrooms spread over a couple of buildings. No restaurants, bars apart from the small breakfast room. No foyets or common lounge areas. Very expensive hotel for room only (＞€325 per night).
